This is my child's first year and we loved the black history program involving the students in a play. The sports programs are also great for a beginner in sports. The coach (mr. Stietzle) was excellent with the students. Mrs. Moore(ela) is also an excellent teacher. The principal mr. Brown gives it his all and should be commended. Stay involved with your child and this school will be o.K. For them.

I think that the Reed school has made a marked improvement in the past 2 school years (2006-2007 aand 2007-2008). The teachers and administrators are working together to give the school a uniform code of conduct. Test scores are on an upward trend and a spirit of calm, purposeful, cooperative learning is evident throughtout the building.

This school is absolutely great. A lot of after school activities. Activities like Drama Club, Sports, Computer Club and many more. The teachers are extremely helpful to all individuals.

Central Islip's only problem is that the faculty (teachers & administration) are unable to find a way to work together in relative harmony. Since these two groups haven't been able to find a compromise, the students pay for the lack of cooperative education they should be able to receive. There is no uniform code of conduct and all hallway rules are assumed. Without any type of hallway structure, or any type of gang education for the teachers, students are free to throw up gang signs of any gang they hear in a rap song. When the teachers AND admin. get on the same page, then things might get better in the district.

I have had nothing but below average experiences with this school. Principals do not return phone calls, do not follow through with promises due to 'oversights'. The teacher's seem to spend more time on disability than in the classrooms, therefore, allowing for one substitute teacher after the other. The classes are overcrowded and teachers don't seem to really want to get involved with the children. It seems that certain teacher's would appreciate more medicated kids, so they can stay focused and quiet, than normal adolescents with intuitive and curious minds that wander from time to time. Is it just me?
