As an out of district parent that has two children attending and one that has graduated from Dolgeville. I do have to say that Dolgeville Elementary is the best around. The teachers are extremely caring, loving and understanding and when your child has a learning issue they will go the distance to get him/her the help they need, as long as the parents are involved and want the child to get the help they need, not just the physical help but the emotional help that goes along with it.
I think that Dolgeville is a great school for learning. The teachers are competent and their Principal is the best I've seen to date. I've seen teachers from Boston MA to Keene NH to private Catholic schools up the East coast and I would place Dolgeville up against the best. The key is that the teachers care, are skilled at their jobs and the class sizes are small. Each child gets individual attention. It is true that Dolgeville places a high demand on physical sports? They have a great sports history...is this a bad thing? I think not. They balance the physical need with the educational need quite well. In fact, better than most private schools. One other fact that I like about my sons going to Dolgeville is the way that they have town police officers walking the halls daily. I think that is a GREAT idea.
The only thing Dolgeville is interested in is their football, not the children learning. they tend to pass the children through than to keep them back or get them help. i feel that the parents should get more involved in the school. take a good long look.
