SES is a safe friendly school. I find the AIS program working for my son. He works hard, we do at home and the teachers and staff put a huge effort in. I also find that if your child is a gifted student, another son is, and they acknowledge it early on, which they do, the teachers work toward enabling those students to enjoy their extra time reading, working on problem solving in the form of games and computer programs. I only have direct knowledge of 2nd and 3rd grade, but it will be very difficult to find a better, small school.

SES has many wonderful & caring teacher and is a great place to be educated if you are a student with out learning differences. The quality of academic programs for the general education population of students are good. Principal leadership is fair. Parent Involvement is Strong. Sherwood is a Safe school and discipline is handled fairly. Most Teacher involvement is contractual, except for the few who go above and beyond and shine. More program diversity and intensity for students with learning differences is needed for All students to achieve Excellence in Education. More Profesional development for staff is needed in the area of students with learning differences; what they are, how to recognize them and how to remediate them.

SES is an fabulous place to learn. The faculty are an amazing group of talented people. It is a shame they are not utilized to their full potential. The leadership at SES is weak.

This is a wonderful school. They have wonderful programs to help children get ahead when they are experiencing difficulty in their academics. There are teachers that go above and beyond by offering their own time to help students before and after school. The school has a great program about the qualities we all want our children to have to be kind and generous people.

This is a great school. I spent grades 1-5 here and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed school at Sherwood Elementary. There were always interesting activities going on like the DEAR: Drop Everything And Read program. We celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the school in 1999 and we always had 'Field Day'. The faculty tried their best to make sure that us students learned and enjoyed ourselves. The overall environment was amazing, the school was cool, clean, and you really felt safe there. One of Sherwood's best qualities is the Parent Involvement. Mr. Veglia the principal said in 'Newsday' that Parent Involvement has always been a concern. It was sad for me to leave and go on to Middle School when I graduated from 5th Grade in 2001, but I felt that my years at Sherwood Really prepared me for Middle School. This is a great school for anyone!
