I think that although it's small, it does offer a lot of opportunities to those who wish to pursue them. I don't think the students here are meaner than than the ones elsewhere and I'd say that the small size is an advantage. We may not have tons of AP classes, but we do have a tight knit community and dedicated teachers. Additionally, if I had gone to a larger school, I probably wouldn't have been able to participate in so many extracurricular activities because J-E actually offers students the chance to be involved in both music and sports. PS: The information on this website says we don't have a lacrosse team or academic competition teams, but we do. Also, our guys cross country team is pretty awesome- probably more well known than our band.
I would rate JE at the bottom. if you dont have a certain last name then forget. if you have had problems at one time or another you are labeled you entire life at JE. They need to start at the top and work its way down and clean house. Need to find staff that are there for the kids not for themselves. go back to way it used to be when it was a top school. would rather send my kids to a city school where it is safer and less drugs.
I would give this school a very poor score, for you're only on the outside looking in, only to asumme that JE is great. I do think the staff is nice, but the students here a quite cruel. I make it my policy to treat others equally, but others here have other priorities. Don't let JE's Virtuoso of decit fool you. Take your kids to a better school. Trust me.
The teachers in the high school are exceptional! Especially the music department. All other teachers are on my list of being the best I've ever seen. A small school district has it's advantages and one of them is taking time to help, understand a childs needs.
I feel that JE should focus more on acedemics. In comparison to other schools less than 10 miles from JE, all but 2 schools have higher test scores and a more aggresive approach to improving acedemics. I feel that my child is beng held back by the lack of variety, class choices, and by the mentality of the district offices. I think that JE should focus on ALL students and not just a select few.
Students have the advantage of a dedicated staff of teachers who care about their future. Any student who has the desire to succeed can get a great education and be accepted into the college of their choice.
There are a lot of activites to do at J-E and the teachers and students are all very nice people who show a lot of team spirit at football and basketball games. The sports programs are run well and true winners come from J-E. Moreparents should be involved, however, a lot of parents are already as well. More academic variety and programs need to be introduced to this school, our school is not allowing the students to advance as far as other districts in the surrounding areas.
I would rate J-E High School's Regular Education Programs very highly, however I disagree with the above assessment of J-E's Special Education Program. My 2 oldest boys attended Special Education Programming and my experience is that the Program is lacking in teaching even the most fundamental skills in Writing, Math, Current Events and especially Life Skills. What is even worse is the way these children are segregated from the mainstream children and the total lack of supervision and enforcement of the basic rules of how to treat each other, when the SE children come in contact with the mainstream kids. My boys were taunted unmercifully by the mainstream students, yet Mr. Berry and the SE staff did little or nothing about it. If anyone was punished, it was my son's for verbally retaliating. I have one son that was in mainstream classes and the Staff and curriculum in that experience was tremendous.
Jordan-Elbridge High School is one of the highest quality schools I have come across. The teachers, assistants and principals are constantly involved with each and every child's interest. The programs they offer are incredible and the involvement of the parents is encouraged and expected. This shows in the kids and how they behave in the schools. The Special Education program available is the best in my opinion in the state.
