This school is a gathering space for an outrageous number of teachers aides, who are either married to a Lackawanna cop, Lackawanna school board member, or are heavily connected to the political core of Lackawanna. One might even be able to look past all that, if at least a single one was qualified or friendly, etc. This is an awful place. Anywhere but here for your child.

This school is a complete disappointment, I wish I never sent my daughter here it needs a new principal to run it. There are too many students for one teacher and rarely an assistant available. I would not encourage anyone to send their child to this school. This school doesn't take the time to verify who people are after initial enrollment someone was able to pose as a step parent for my daughter and have a conference regarding my daughter.

Our daughter is a student at Truman Elementary and we are very happy with the school. All of her teachers have been outstanding. The principal Mrs. Fernandez is excellent as well. She knows all the students and runs a wonderful school. We have been very active in going to Family Nights, field trips, art shows, etc. and have noticed wonderful interaction between the students and teachers at these events. The teachers really care and promote good citizenship between the students. They also have a great reading challenge every month, and the disciplinary policy works very well too. Our daughter has been at Truman since Pre K and is now in 1st grade, and I am sad that next year will be her last year there. I wish the school went until 8th grade. We have been very happy here and would recommend it to others living in Lackawanna.

I think the teachers work hard to help the kids learn. They encourage good behavior in several ways. They motivate the kids to enjoy reading and listening to stories. I think Truman School kids come out of there with good character and much knowledge and with a caring nature.

Truman Elementary School doesn't only work hard at improving the students education with activities such as the yearly Reading Challenge but the school works hard to make our students productive citizens in the world. Children are taught to be respectful, polite, helpful to others,....Being a city school, we face many challenges but the staff works hard with the students of Truman to overcome these challenges and encourage the children to follow their dreams.

I have 2 children at Truman and I couldn't be happier with their growth, both academicaly and socialy. The teachers and staff all work so hard to make learning fun and exciting. They also ensure that the children learn respect for themselves and others. From the teachers to the ladies in the office all the way to the school nurse, they all are attentive, compassionate and understanding and are very involved in the childrens lives.

Truman School is truly a quality school. The administration, faculty, and staff at Truman should be commended. While volunteering for various functions, I have seen a group of dedicated, enthusiastic people who motivate the students to excel academically and socially. My daughter attends kindergarten at Truman. Being my one and only, I was quite anxious about sending her anywhere! But I felt much better about her attending this school after receiving a tour at last year s Spring Open House. The school seemed to have all the basic academic and extracurricular activities that she would need. After several visits to the school, it is apparent that the people at this school instill much more than the basics. It has implemented several incentive-driven programs that motivate the children to behave properly. In short, the school uses positive reinforcement to get kids to be, and do, their best. The results are truly fantastic!

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
