Camp Avenue is a great school, however, there is little diversity in the Merrick area and the parents are not very welcoming. There is a new principal and he is very warm. The teachers should be encouraged to take diversity training as well.

Camp Avenue has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It has a old fashioned feel to it. Children are truly children which is hard to find on Long Island. Teachers, administrators and parents work together well. There is sense of community and traditions are respected. A rare find!

I am very happy with Camp Avenue School. My children started in the middle of the school year. The principal and the teachers were very patient. There reading program is superb.

I am very pleased with this school-plenty of programs in the performing arts& music.There is a high level of parent involvement-especially since there are no buses.I think they are a little weak in updating the school facilities-no a/c,no elevator or ramps for those w/ disabilities.One of the things i like best is the 'old fashioned','small town' feel of the school-it is a very closeknit community 7 the people are pretty friendly & concerned about their community.
