Very expensive school district. It's worth it, especially if you have more than one child. Math & Science programs should be upgraded. Music & Art are essential. Heap of money wasted on lights for athletic field.
Good school district if you can afford the high taxes. They have a great sports program and a decent music program. I am disappointed in some aspects. They have terminated French in the middle school and kept only Spanish and thats very limiting. The high school is the best compared to the Elementary and Middle school. They claim to encourage parent involvement but in the Middle School the teachers want nothing to do with the parents.
I love Mt Sinai High School because of it's great mix of sports and academics.
Mount Sinai's motto is 'The best in learning and living' and it truely goes by its words. However I do agree about not spending there budget correctly. They should direct the money more towards learning rather than a multi million dollar turf field and lights for night games
A very good district, great teachers and a great community, however I feel Mt Sinai might not spend their budget right. Some of the text books were literally used by current teachers when they were students, yet they spend lots of their budget on things like wrestling equipment, a new football field, and recently renovated the front of the middle school to look slightly worse then it was before they did it. Although they do have quality computers, and several other forms of quality equipment for education, they fail to treat everything the same, and they need to care a little more of the education, and a little less of the after school activities.
