I should have learned the 1st time when my 15yr old attended K-4 (Currently @ WPHS). On several occasions he was bullied physically & verbally by other students. I now have my 5yr old enrolled and facing the same situation. IT IS NOT the TEACHERS OR ADMINISTRATORS why this school has been a FAILURE yr after yr! IT IS THE PARENTS! Teachers and Admins have NO SUPPORT frm PARENTS INSTEAD.... I overhear conversations among some of these degenerate "GHETTO" parents in the yard where they're thrilled their child slapped the other child DURING CLASS for "F-ing with her daughter"! Instead of what other choices could have been made she said she was the one who told her to do it; "Cause aint nobody gonna F@%! with MY child! & I dare one of these teachers or her moms to step to me bout it" WOW! This is generally the kind of conversations taking place during pick up and drop offs. NOT TO MENTION the baby-momma/daddy DRAMA! they feel to broadcast to everyone INCLUDING their own child! ONLY LORD KNOWS WHAT GOES ON IN THESE HOMES when these unruly, disrespectful children AND PARENTS are behind closed doors! IF YOU AS PARENTS START BEHAVING WITH DIGNITY; YOUR CHILD WILL FOLLOW!

Just starting grands out in the school will rate later. We have not experience this school yet. Thank u. Please ne a three and better. System wouldnt let me submit unless we rated.

The Edward Williams School is very orderly with constant evidence of learning in the classrooms. Teachers from other schools in the Mount Vernon City School District have visited Williams to see the how a single teacher can meet the needs of diverse students. Teachers use 4 or 5 levels of groups including computer simulations, desk work practicing a concept just taught, small group teacher instruction where students illustrate math concepts with drawings on small whiteboards, a math reading center for students who have completed their work, math practice center using erasable markers on laminated pages selected to go with the lesson, and small groups of student partners helping each other. All these activities are to give students practice thinking and using the concepts they were taught. A school is more than just teaching. Teamwork is the key to changing a formerly disorderly school to the learning center it is today.

Administration is unable to handle the 75% of the job required. Leadership is lackluster since administration highlights negatives rather than inspires through 1) actions or 2) words. Attention isn't directed toward achieving State standards. Interest and focus is misdirected as administrator seeks to gain approval and praise from teachers rather than doing his job effectively. Ineffective leadership has resulted in principal and teachers being subjected to parental rage and violence, thereby creating an unsafe hazardous school. Students do not respect principal and has often cursed at him. Discipline is nil. Referrals are a waste of time as it does nothing. Principal is often disrespectful to a chosen few and is very courteous and accommodating to those who can verbalize to those in charge 'how great he is'. His unwillingness to listen to constructive criticism has led the building amuk. When in a bind he will blame others rather than accept blame.
