This is a wonderful school, one of the best public schools in the city. Teachers are excellent, the school has a warm neighborhood feel--couldn't recommend it more highly.

My two children graduated from this school. The Principal, most of the teachers, and the Guidance Counselor are great. I had children in both of the programs and they both excelled and attended a great middle school (Delta Honors). I just wish that the parents in the Renaissance Program were more involved.

My daughter attends this school. Ms. Brady is a phenomenal Principal. The teachers are all above average and hand picked by Ms. Brady. Pleasant and very helpful General Office, as well as, a super attentive and involved PTA, and a superbly planned curriculum makes this the stellar school of the entire NYC public school system. Only downside: School's popularity increases the real possibility of overcrowding in the coming years.

We have had two children at PS 9 for two years now, and it has been a great experience. The leadership is great, the teachers are top-notch, and the PTA is amazing. There are various enrichment activities, projects, and exciting field trips throughout the year. One thing I would say though is that at PS 9, there is a very sharp distinction between the general ed class and the gifted and talented classes. You see it in the ethnic composition of the students, level of classroom discipline, and the depth of the projects that get undertaken. This is not so evident at younger grades but very obvious in upper grades. The teacher quality is excellent in both, however. The ESL teacher is simply magical - so competent, so good with kids. Great arts and music programs. They could increase the amount of homework though - my daughter barely had any.

It is the most nurturing environment for an elementary school age child. It is all about the kids - and the entire school community supports this entirely. We have two kids there and couldn't imagine them anywhere else...

I am new to the school but I am already in love with it. The teachers are amazing and the families in the school give 100% of themselves to make the school better every day. I feel lucky to be part of this community.

The teachers are genuinely concerned about their students and the parent body is excellent! These greatly contribute to why our students continue to academically achieve above and beyond their grade levels.

PS 9 has consistently wonderful teachers. There is a energetic vibe to the school and my children wake up each day wanting to go to school. The administration is welcoming, helpful and truly cares about each student. A great place to learn!

As a new kindergarten parent I could not be more excited about PS 9 - 18 kids in a class with a teacher and a full time assistant. Art, Spanish, Chess, Music classes weekly. Hard to believe this is public school!

My child has experienced incredible growth in their outstanding Pre-K. Supported, connected, challenged, and most importantly for us, the guidance in socail growt and understanding has been attended to with care and a structure, helpful to our child's growth. Couldn't express more happiness. Joseph Hamilton Clancy, parent ps9 pre-k

As a former teacher at PS.9 I can't tell you how great the children and staff there have it. The principal, Ms. Brady, is exceptionally gifted as a leader and a teacher. I taught at other schools in NYC and by far PS.9 had the best enviornment for learning, exploring, and growing. Keep up the good work!

The principal is unfriendly and unwilling to have any participate with parents. You never see her. There is an atmosphere of big brother pervasive to the school with too much emphasis on parochial discipline. Very sad considering how good it could be! Parents are great but to no avail we don't get good teachers or have any say!

Both of my children went to PS9. The academic programs and the music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities are high quality; the level of parent involvement is quite high.

Parents involvement and support here is amazing. Teachers are great, too.

P.S. 9 is a very community-centered school with lots of extracurricular events. Students play different instruments in music class (even the violin in the upper grades!), put on drama productions, and try out different art forms in art class. P.S. 9 has a fabulous (although expensive) afterschool program. Parents are encouraged to participate in school events, but principal discourages parents from entering the building during the school day.
