What a shame some professionals feel the need to spend time berating their principal/ former principal! Rather, they should invest it in themselves and show more initiative. I have worked with Principal Caesar for over 4 yrs and I find her to be a stand up administrator. She expects educators to give 110% just as she does. She keeps the school open and tries to make it a community resource for families. Caesar is totally invested in her community, often working 6/7 days a week. She does not care for slackers taking it easy or those just passing time waiting for retirement.
Caesar has taken her scholars to the White House Garden, on college tours to inspire them and created hands on learning opportunities few NYC schools experience. She renovated the library and purchased 3D virtual reality gaming creation software for scholars. She has secured Smartboards and computers well over the amount that other DOE schools have. Principal Caesar partnered with ABC's Born to Explore and scholars were showcased on national television learning in a Mystery Skype lesson. Caesar partnered with Microsoft to receive a donation of their new product, Surface Pros.
Principal Caesar's heart and soul goes into running this school and she does not accept laziness or mediocrity. If you are looking for an easy school, this is not it. If you are looking to be innovative, make a difference, change lives and grow as a professional, then I highly recommend this school.
Are you a teacher looking for a job? If yes, Mosaic is NOT the place for you. If you want to be treated FAIRLY and RESPECTED as PROFESSIONAL, then turn around and RUN because you will not get this from the HORRIBLE PRINCIPAL, LISSETTE CAESAR!!!! She TERRORIZES all of her teachers and speaks to them in a DEMEANING and DISRESPECTFUL manner. She rants and raves about PROFESSIONALISM when she, herself, has NO CLUE about what that word means. She is constantly DEMANDING for her employees to REFLECT when she does NOT have a clue how to REFLECT herself! (Perhaps this is why her TURNOVER of TEACHERS is so high! ) On an ANNUAL basis approximately 7-15 of her EMPLOYEES/TEACHERS leave this place, yes HALF HER TEACHER STAFF.(IS D4 SUPERINTENDENT ESTRELLA OVERLOOKING THIS?...Hmm..... True collaboration cannot be built among teachers or among teachers & families because LISSETTE CAESAR is on a PERSONAL TEACHER HUNT! She has her favorites (allowed to leave before the time specified in the teacher's CONTRACT, ALLOWED TO DO AS THEY PLEASE AND BEHAVE AS MINI-CAESAR'S) and unless you don't do as she says she will make it her MISSION to make your life MISERABLE!!! Very sad that the students are the ones missing out on being taught by Amazing teachers CONSISTENTLY, and growing academically due to the PRINCIPAL'S INSECURITIES, LOW SELF-ESTEEM, LACK OF CLASS, LACK OF RESPECT, POOR SOCIAL SKILLS, AND TYRANNY at Mosaic! ....The TEACHERS and FAMILIES ARE GREAT ; however, this school will NEVER reach its utmost POTENTIAL until DICTATOR CAESAR is overthrown! ....
Lisette Caesar needs to go. She is demeaning. A "teacher" of five years wrote that this school was allotted $250,000 dollars in grants. Wow. Impressive, let's see what "Professor Caesar" does with it. Overall this school has amazing children, however the high turnover rate of teachers should be noted. I warn all future teachers of Mosaic. Run.
Mosaic is a great school. Since my daughter has been attending mosaic she grow academically and socially. my daughter attend the girl support groups in Mosaic . Since she has been participating her self -esteem soars & she outgoing now.
This school has made tremendous positive changes in the community. I have had the pleasure of working at the school for over 5 years and have seen the school move up the continuum. The school has a host of partnerships that allows for students to be involved in extracurricular activities in the afternoons and Saturdays. The school has been granted over $250,000 this year in grants which has helped the school build a greenhouse, have reading nights, fund trips and more. The teachers work closely with the community and administration to provide the students with a standards based, engaging curriculum.
I had an opportunity to visit this school Saturday for an Ice Cream Social event for young girls. It was fantastic. My girls loved it. It was inspiring and also educational for the They learned how to be a young lady with a vision that they can be anything they want to be. Kudos to Principal Ceaser!!!!! I can't wait for next event.
I have a second grade child. My child feels safe in school. the office staff is wonderful when I had to register my child. it was nice to feel welcome to a new neighborhood. the parent coordinator gave me a nice walk through. my child was welcomed with a book bag with supplies.
I think a very good point has been made in two of the reviews about the fact that there is virtually no parental involvement at this school. When my children were young, the school they attended had a large parents' association and their influence was huge. They were an incredible support to the school. The school always rated 9 or 10.
My child has attended this school for almost 5 years, and I think it could be better. Their standardized testing scores could be better. A few of the teachers are excellent, however, most of the teachers could use improvement on their instructional methods and working with the students to ensure their understanding of the material. Too, the teachers need to learn to effectively manage the students. When the teacher learns one of their children are being bullied, they need to effectively explain to the bullying student(s) that it will not be tolerated. The Principal and the Assistant Principal do lack the necessary leadership skills to run the school. Also, there is an extremely decreased amount of / no parental involvement because we have been "walled-out" by the Mosaic Principals and Staff.
