My child is in the accelerated program and I am very pleased. I am amazed at how much she is learning. If your child can test in, you will not be disappointed. The staff at Horizons is great too. They run a very tight ship.

The AP classes are amazing and promote a wonderful learning environment. My children have started really working to their potential and are happier. It's a great school.

I love the staff at HOH. They are so great. I like the way it is run, there is a lot of respect between teachers and the students. My daughter is so happy to be a part of the Horizon's Magnet School. I would like to thank all of the staff for being there to help our children take on new challenges.

The school is located next to a public housing project (HUD) along with the lowest income neighborhoods in Newburgh. The faciliteis and teachers are fine but the average child in this school does not learn what is needed to succeed. The one thing that needs to be mentioned is that they established a 'school-within-a-school' last year which is labeled the 'gifted-and-talented' program. If a child can make it into this program (they test), they will be in class with other children who are highly motivated. My child was a part of this program last year and it was very good from an academic standpoint. (Lots of homework!) If your child is not in the gifted-and-talented program, I don't recommend this school.

I think that Horizon on the Hudson is a very good school my daughter has been enjoying herself and learning a great deal this year - as a new comer to the school as of October 2005 she has been excelling in her studies.
