River av. is a excellent school. My older son attended river and was well prepared for the middle and highschool. He is now a honor student in the highschool and and involved in clubs and sports. Great schools to prepare for college!

A typical public school. Excellent principal, very hands on. He knows all of the children by name, all of the parents by name, and all of his students siblings (who don't attend the school) by name!

River Elementary School is a great elementary school and has a good diverse mix of the student body.Teachers at River really care about the students and their education and the quality of attention each student recieves. As a parent of two (2) River students I can only say that I am very proud of the programs and curriculum that River teaches and adheres to. The Principle at River Elementary School is geniunely concerned about each and every child's education and learning experience! He is a kind and caring individual and has great role model character! Any child would be lucky to receive their elementary education at River Elementary.

In 2012-2013 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
