Teacher effectiveness: Agree

- a parent
I've interacted with the teachers on field trips, field days, and various other activities. Her teachers have always displayed a caring attitude towards my daughter.

Amount of homework: Agree

Last year, first grade, she had nightly home work assignments, mostly in math. Most assignments could be completed in 15 minutes. Had a least one book to read a week,

They a program called PAWs which emphases honesty, integrity and fairness. They recognize good behavior publicly.

My daughter has been attending AA Gates since PreK, this year she will be in second grade. Her teachers have been caring and always keep us informed of her strengths and weaknesses. I have the means to send her to a private school, but we've been more than satisfied with her progress so far.

Too many politics play part in this school to the point where it inhibits students from learning. The camaraderie and overall school spirit was at an all time low when I attended (2007 grad). The sports programs are ill funded and there is little pride or enthusiasm from a majority of the athletes and it is mostly due to the poor coaching (girls varsity basketball for example). School enrollment has dipped from 1200 total (k-12) to around 800 in just the past 7 years for a reason. Would not recommend sending a child to Port Byron.
