All three of my children attend/attended this school. I agree with the previous reviewer about politics playing a huge roll in decision making. There is a sense of " elitism" throughout the administration. Rules don't apply for the select few. Teachers hands are tied. I would strongly suggest sending your child to Weedsport Central School District. Their academics and sports programs are exceptional.
Too many politics play part in this school to the point where it inhibits students from learning. The camaraderie and overall school spirit was at an all time low when I attended (2007 grad). The sports programs are ill funded and there is little pride or enthusiasm from a majority of the athletes and it is mostly due to the poor coaching (girls varsity basketball for example). School enrollment has dipped significantly in just the past 7 years for a reason. So much so that PB had to actually eliminate the middle school to accommodate for the low enrollment rates. These problems all stem from the poor decision making from the administration. Would not recommend sending a child to Port Byron.
Port Byron Central school is a very small home town school. Both my daughters and myself went to Port Byron. Many of the teachers I had were teachers my daughters had as teachers. You just always feel at home in Port Byron school.
I love Port Byron because it is so homey......You know everyone.....Even the teachers! All of the teachers are great mentors! No matter what you need you will find someone to help whether it is a student, teacher, or faculty! They will help. I love the atmosphere at PB!!!!!! It's amazing!!!!!
