Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I honestly like this school. It's awesome and the teachers are friendly. But it's just that most guys here are kinda immature. I don't mean to speak badly about the school, but most guys don't give respect to females. Even if you wear a sweater and always keep yourself covered you still don't get respected. The programs here are great. learning about all the stuff dealing in the aviation industry. Most teachers are friendly and funny.

My son graduated from Aviation High School in 2014. He not only gained a good education and technical skills but also learnt life skills to last him a lifetime; like discipline and hard work pays off. The principal, Mr. Charalambous, is an awesome leader who truly cares about the students success and well-being. There is a general feeling at this school of caring and co-operation with parents. Ms Diva Morillo is an awesome parent co-ordinator! Thank you all at AVHS! It was worth the long school days.

I graduated from Aviation HS in 1965, the school provided an excellent platform for a career in the aviation field. I never took full advantage of this wonderful opportunity, but after graduation I enlisted in the Air Force, and served as a B-52 crew chief during the height of the Vietnam war. After 4 years I returned to civilian life bounced around for awhile in numerous jobs in the technical area. I landed a job in the television broadcast field, as an engineer where I had a very successful 31 year career. I didn't end up in the field of aviation, but the technical background I received at Aviation HS gave me a great platform for all I did later.

I am currently a senior in Aviation High. I just want to say that here If where things can really take off for your aviation career no matter what you are going into. The licences the school gives when you pass their demanding courses and exams can put you ahead of others coming out of a regular high school. When you come here you must realize he opportunity you have been given over most other high schools in NYC or even the united states. I will be going for my Power plant license and I just want to say THANK YOU AVIATION FOR EVERYTHING : )

I am a Junior in this school. Wow gotta say this school is awsome. It keeps me so interested because i want to pursue a career in aerospace engineering. hands down by far the best school in the nation. you will graduate from this school and start making more money than anyone among you. that's if you complete the rigorous course of course. you get two licenses Airframe and Powerplant. You will graduate with Airframe as a senior. Powerplant is optional. you have to go to fifth year to get your Powerplant license. Plus this school offers an internship which is only reserved for the top 24 graduates!

I am just a sophomore in the school, if all goes well I should graduate in 2013. This school is great because of its Aviation based technical education. We do hands-on work. Like I said, I am sophomore so I don't too much about the school but if you are dedicated it will turn out great for you. Our schedules are longer than normal high because of the shop(AMT courses), so don't expect to go home early specially when you are a sophomore and junior. Seniors and freshmen have better schedule mostly 8 periods each day accept for lab days. We have a lot of clubs and activities. The most known extra program in our school is the AFJROTC, as well as Color Guard. So basically if you want to pursue an Aviation career and have no problems with a longer schedule this is the perfect school.

Great School, but only if if you have any interest in pursuing a career in Aviation/ Engineering. If not, I advise you NOT to attend this school. Trust me, i am experiencing this right now . From an unbiased point of view, the school has done its part in letting students experience hands-on work and gives you a small feel of what life as an AMT would be. Take full advantage of it while you're here, for you can end up with your Airframe/ Powerplant license worth a lot of money. As for academics, they need improvement. This school is so busy with their shop section (which usually lacks adequate tools because of budget) they tend to forget about the academics section, and their needs with books, etc. Teachers vary. Some are excellent and some I question how they were hired. Students are friendly for the most part and diverse.

This is a pretty good school if u like workin and doing technical stuff. If you hate staying longer tha regular school this is not the school for you. Althought its does great on the technical term i think it can improve more in the academic section as well.

This school is once of the best and will stay the best due to the licenses and I am a fifth year. What school has a annex and a wide varsity of aircraft? lets leave it at that. Kids come here thinking this H.S. is a joke well you got something coming for you because you have long days and long hours and this HS will prepare you better for college and that's the ultimate goal.

I attended aviation high school for 5 years, recieved one license and i am upon recieving my second license. After attending a Suny college for a year, i never realized how grateful i was for attending such a good school. The teachers not only taught me how to fixed aircrafts, but prepared me for the real world. Teachers like (RIP) Mr. Petr, and Mr. Podpora they taught us lessons that no education can nver provide. I was luck, and i am grateful

My son is currently at Aviation. I graduated in 1991 and I still think the school is great. It was a great stepping stone in my life. It opened many doors for me. I worked as an Aviation Technician for many years....Now I'm a union electrician. Aviation taught me so much...becoming an electrician became easy. The teachers are still as great as when I went there. They treat the students like their children. Thank God for that.

This school is quite challenging for students and is a great place to send your son/daughter. THe teachers are caring about the students and the vocational classes are very strong. There is a shortage of college information provided for those who do not plan to enter into the industry, but many of the academic teachers are willing to work with the students on that.

Quality of academic education is very high. Needs to become more involved in other sports than currently available. More parent involvement need - since a large quantity of the students attending are either from a different country or their parents are.

From the moment my son entered this school in 2001 he has achieved 100% attendance. The only time he was out was when he was representing his school or while on a school trip. Aviation has held my son's interest from the beginning therefore, he looks forward to the challenges that this school offers on a daily basis. My son's envolvement and dedication to this school is because of the caring teachers and a principal who cares about each and every student. I am very proud of his choice to attend Aviation and of all his accomplishments that he had received thus far.

I graduated from AV in June '99 and '00. Im currently a full time student at SUNY Farmingdale studying Aviation administration, and working full time as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. I, like many, took full advantage of the opportunities and resources avaliable at Av. What I'm doing today was only made possible by the dedication and love of the staff at AV (every one frome the principal, to the academic teachers, to the shop teachers, to the security guards, to the support staff). AV gave me a clare vision and a strong mind set and put me on a outstanding platform to launch my Aviation career to endless heights. Ounce you graduate and walk out the doors of AV with your diloma and A&P certificates, you will realize that any goal is achievable and the world is yours for the taking.
