Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I recently transfered my daughter to P. 63 since we just moved to the area and I couldn't have made a greater mistake. School has very unwelcome environment. Principal (Ms. Marion) and all the staff in register office don't even make a slight effort to listen to the parents. You will be rudely dismissed if you try to make an inquiry about school policies. If you question them...well, nobody really cares unless you call NY City Department of education. Kids are basically allowed to bully each other and there is no investigation by school if bullying occurs! PTA are extremely rude and rather than listen to your concern will tell you how they volunteer here and don't get paid for this! There are a lot of teacher substitutes happenning and teachers don't seem to care much since they are in the class for one week only and next week they will be teaching a different class. So if you do care about your child's education and want to be treated with respect as a parent, don't come even close to this school!!

I took my daughter out of this school after the 2012-2013 school year and placed her in a private school. That was the best decision I could have made to help further her education. PS63 is not bad, but they can definitely use some work.

My children just attended kindergarten and I must say that their teachers were excellent. Very happy with their growth and communication skills. They absolutely loved their teachers and I can see that their teachers genuinely cared about all of their students. I hope this year the teachers are just as wonderful. Their teachers were Ms. Peyton and Ms. Levy...thank you both so very much.

I was very happy when my older children attended this school. However, there is a new principal and things don't seem the same. The teachers all seem very unhappy and this has to affect the students. I am afraid it is not the great place it used to be.

as a parent you always want what's best for your children. I had my daughter in private school for kindergaten, she was not doing good at all, so we decided to put her in p.s 63 for first grade and it was the best thing we did. She learn so fast with the help of her first grade teacher miss. Rottino. Miss Rottino helped my daughter in a way that only a confident teacher would help a child who need that extra time to learnd her shapes, colors even to read at her age level. Im so greatfull for what miss Rottino did with my dauther. Now i have my other two children attending p.s 63. Is the best school ever!

I was a student of this school back in the late 80"s until graduation. I must say, when you go back to your school and still see teachers that were there when you were knee high to a grass hopper, it makes you feel good. Take it from me, you will always remember your K-6 grade teachers. After all, those are the years where you first start to learn about life and what numbers and letters mean. I still remember methods of doing math that Mrs. Lombardo and Mrs. Feta taught me. To make a long story short, P.S. 63 is one of the best schools within the city of New York and I highly recommend it for you and your family. Get Involved! The area has changed thanks to our government, but that won't change the quality of education your child will receive.

I absolutely love this school. I couldnt have asked for a better elementary school for my son. He is learning things that I dont remember learning at his age. He has teachers (especially) this year that truly cares. I am so happy my son is going to PS 63 I will be very upset when he has to graduate in 5th Grade. The test grade results are so high for that school. On top of everything, he has been playing an instrument since 2nd grade.

My children go to this school its a great school because the teachers are very involve with the students... But there is one thing I do not like is the saftey once a parent picking up their children before school is over the office dose not ask for Identification to realese the child and thats a big concern anyone after they signing the paper & passing the security guard can wonder around in the school its not safe !!! Its something us parents should talk about with the P.T.A but other than that large concern its pretty good to have teachers that are caring and understanding =)

ok first you are not a teacher.....if you were you should been have able to write a short understandable statement. If you are a teacher then I think that you have more things to worry about then parents working with their children. What grade do you teach ??? All the teachers that i have come in contact at p.s.63q have been wonderful, and find ways to work with all the kids so that it isn't just learning but also enjoyable at the same time.

As a teacher, I would love to work this inmy class that aprreciate what is being taught. It's not time for a social hour. The parents have been saying on thing and then not helping out their children at all. But then we get blamed at the teachers.

I have encountered a school full of problems and incompetence. This is our last year and we are so happy. If success, confidence and a well run school is on your list. This is not it.

After years of looking for the right school P.S 63Q is just what we needed. My daughter has a reading disability. P.S 63Q has a great reading program. Unfortunally, the Board of Education doesn't have a specific program for children with Dyslexia but this is the best we could find.

I found the level of academinc programs to be top-notch and surpassing the local private school. 63 offered various muiscial, artisitc and drama choices for the children with enthusiastic teachers. I foudn the level of paretn involvement to be medium but looking for other members and dedicated to their goals.

P.S. 63Q is a very diversified school and the quality of its academic programs is satisfactory, however, availability to other extracurricular activities such as arts, sports, and music is very minimal. In 1st grade children are no longer reqired to color in their homework handouts which, in my opinion helps children to gain control over their hand movement (motor skills) thus enhacing their ability to write better. There are some afterschool clubs but space is so limited that the teachers have to choose who gets to join which could be a biased decision. Parent involment is also very low, one of the reasons for it is that the pta seems to be controlled a possie of friends, so one that doesn't belong to the circle would feel like an outsider. There are some very dedicated teachers that genuinally care for the future of their students and do work with the parents.

This is one of the best schools in Queens. The teachers are truly wonderful educators and the administration in on the ball.My son will be entering the 2nd grade this September and thanks to ALL the wonderful teachers and staff at P.S.63 he continues to soar to his full potential every year.He has never come home once and told me or his dad he had a bad day at school. He always says 'I had a FANTASTIC DAY!'.For me as a parent this means the world to me.Not only is he learning he is also having a GREAT time as well.I could not have hand picked a better school.
