We love this school and can't imagine sending our kids somewhere else - so happy that we stayed in the RCSD; we would never leave the City of Rochester with WOIS #58 being our school.

World of Inquiry is a prime example of a high performing urban school and having quality school choices is an important key to building a livable community. We are very happy with our decision to send our children to World of Inquiry.

truly an inspirational place for a child to learn and grow!
Great school, dedicated teachers and parents!
School #58 has been like our second family for over 10 years. We feel at home whenever we step into the building. The PTO keeps our school connected by having an array of social activities which are fun for the whole family (annual picnic, movie nights, potluck dinners, snow party, workshops, etc.). The school secretaries are friendly and efficient. The custodial staff keep our building and grounds clean and tidy. The administrators and teachers are top-notch, innovative educators and it is evident by the Expeditionary Learning Exhibit, which are done in the Fall and Spring. They participate in Outward Bounds twice a year and the students go hiking, fishing, kayaking and canoeing which helps to build team spirit. The school has Parent/Teacher Conferences which are student led. There are an array of extracurricular activities for students to participate in like the Step Team, poetry club, band, choir, basketball, soccer and the outdoor club. Every Wednesday, the school has a morning meeting. These meetings are student led. Each week, they have the number of the week, a song, a dance to perform and their own radio station: WGYB (We Got Your Back). We are happy to be a part of WOIS #58 and recommend the school to everyone. There school motto is: We are Crew Members not Passengers.

The World of Inquiry School#58 has been a blessing for my 2 children and family. The principal, teachers, and staff are first class & very skilled/supportive. Both my children have excelled in the expeditionary learning (ELA) environment and have become leaders/role models. Attending the World of Inquiry school#58 will lead them both to successful futures in whatever they choose to do.

School 58 is wonderful because of creative and dedicated staff and parents who empower their students to enjoy learning. It is a community where everyone cares for each other and takes responsibility for their own learning. We strive for high expectations and make the learning experience a very hands-on interactive process. Students are leaders and actively participate at a variety of levels within the school. We are proud to be an urban school and celebrate our diversity and commitment to identify teachable moments to highlight the rich history dedication and service within community. We develop community service and service learning projects to teach our students the importance of giving back and taking responsibility for their own learning. Students develop creative and insightful projects that demonstrate how much they have learned and how much they have to teach others. We are truly developing tomorrow's leaders!

There is teacher, parent and student involvement at this school. Everyone is part of the "crew" and everyone cares. It is a totally awesome school. The students have the opportunity to get out into the community and learn as well as in the classroom.

School # 58 was named a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. It was the only urban school in New York State to earn Blue Ribbon status outside of New York City

They are so involved with the students and the parents. They do not let the challenges the school board, the city councilman, and the school union interfere with the important job of teaching children.
The program allows the students to explore their world and find different ways to solve problems, which is much different and far more interesting than the typical program. My daughter loves going to school. She's in their junior high program now, and at that age I hated school. That alone would make me feel it is a positive program, but their students also routinely do very well on tests, and know more about their world and are better behaved than many kids their age. I love the fact that we had the option to send her to an alternative program as early as kindergarten in the city school district, without having to pay the exhorbitant fees that private or charter schools charge.
