I am currently a student who goes here and to be honest not many people like it.I personally hate it. The kids are not the nicest like most middle school i guess. The work is a fair amount and if you work hard you will be fine. There are some mean teachers but also many nice ones. Dont want to sound like a downer just wan to let you know before you decide to go there.

Though I believe there are excellent teachers in this school, the philosophy of accelerated math and science is ridiculous. They push the students through a curriculum that is a mile wide and an inch deep. The average students need tutors to keep up. Due to the speed at which the content is taught there is very little retention from year to year-especially in math. This means that kids who struggle in 6th grade are in even worse shape in 7th and 8th. The goal is to have all students path regents in 8th grade. (not a difficult task since the curve is so big). I know of many students who had to repeat these courses upon failing private school entrance exams in math and science (even thought they passed the regents). Very little work is given in LA so the writing skills are really abysmal.
