This school gets 0 stars from me 2 of my children attended this school they did not push my kids to succeed .My child continuosly wet his pants and they did not hold him accountable. School nurse called cps on both of my children .Sinnce my kids have left that school they have been placed in normal classes and both children are pulling good grades They treat your children like babys and do not push them for success there are very few men teachers in this school .It took 6 months to undue the damage THAT THESE TEACHERS DID TO MY CHILDREN. sINCE THEY HAVE LEFT BOTH MY kIDS HAVE BEEN MAINSTREAMED INTO NORMAL CLASSEs and my son no longer wets his pants in school..If you dont want your children being coddled and be brought up without meddling teachers i would suggest trying a different school district

We LOVE West Street! The layout is WONDERFUL - it allows the classes (K-1, 2-3, 4-5) to get together for holidays and weekly 'Pod' meetings. I have a daughter in 1st grade and my son is in Kindergarten - they LOVE going to school. Each month has a different theme (respect, cooperation, responsibility, etc) and the students who demonstrate it well, are recognized in front of their peers at the Pod meetings - it really encourages them to do their best. The teachers and staff always have a smile on their faces and truly care about the students. The Parents Group sponsors Fun Friday socials throughout the year (Movie & Pajama night, Reptile Show with pizza & snacks, etc) - it's a fun family night that the students really enjoy. The students projects and/or artwork is displayed all throughout the school. We are so happy to be attending West Street.

Teachers are great, work with and are involved with the children as well as their families. Teach on an individual basis. Mr. Mong - principal is excellent. Clean school in great neighborhood. Provides a lot of extra activities for the children.

THis is a very good school. They do seem to have some discipline problems with the new principal. Since the school opened it has felt like a family. Strong relationships and respect is always a prioity. I like the student work on display. The teachers are hard workers but don't all seem to be on the same page. A concern is that the school seems to be not as clean as it had been in the past. My children are happy and I feel that West Street has always challenged all of my children.

More and more every day I am impressed with the teachers, principal and overall academics at this great school . They have worked with me in all areas that I had or have concerns about. It is tatally dedicated to what is best for the students and how to help them achieve their full potential. It is a great school.

Nice school. Care about students. New administration this year. And my kids miss the past principal she always greeted them with a smile and encouragement I hope this does not change the school. There seems to be too much testing and time getting ready for Tests this year! My children are feeling a lot of anxiety that they did not have before. I also wonder how much time is spent in teaching. Mrs. McCLurr always put learning and the students first, she just wanted the testing to see if they were learning and what had tobe done with the lessons. She wanted reading, writing and math done daily. The teachers, especially Mrs. Kissel and Mrs. Guerin made their lessons fun but challenging. My kids had to think! The parent group seems to try to run the school, Mr. Mond is so nice that they can take advantage. Overalll great school

This is a great school. Children are happy and always seem to be engaged in learning. Academically children are challenged and even the fun activities have an academic theme. Teacher care and the Principal is approachable and always welcomes parent input. They have a new Assistant this year to help Mrs. McClure and he also is approachable and friendly. The parent group is small but supports administration and teachers. This school seems to do well on state tests ande the daily lessons prepare students for tests. They don't stop teaching for the preparation of tests. There is lots of things for our children to participate in -- the computer club is wonderful. The librarian is very open and positive in the encouragement of reading -- which is the central theme of everything this school does. My children love to go to school.!! Great job by all!!

Academics and expectations are high. The school feels like a family and all seem to care about what is going on. Parent group is small and they seem to have their own agendas. My child liked going to school and I always felt that I was told about my child's progress and what the curriculum expectations were.

This is a great school. Teachers are caring but are very much driven by thier union. Leadership is positive and has high expectations for all including staff. The PTO is interested in making money but doesn't get involved too much in the learning. Lots of activities for the children to participate in that makes them very happy. My daughter loves to go to school and everyone including the principal knows her name. The Principal keeps us informed on what is going on in the school and is positive about learnng. She keeps her staff current and seems to know their progress. The teachers are caring and make the learning interesting for the children. Sometimes I think they all expect too much. There seems to be little discipline problems and everyone genuinely repects each other.

The teachers my son has had have been not only excellent teachers but phenonminal people as well. They truly care about my son as an individual. The more you put into the school in parent involvement the more you get out of it. I have found the principal though to be a bit antaganistic towards the teachers in some issues, siding with the administration when she should be going out on a limb for her staff.
