I am very pleased that my child is in the district which allows her to attend Virginia Williamson. As the parent of a new Kindergartener, I am very pleased with her teacher as well as the principal. It is surprising the number of students that the principal knows by name. She spends time in classes in all grades, as well as spending the entire two and a half hour lunch period in the lunchroom with the students. The school is clean and the teacher-student ratio is acceptable. I could not choose a better school in the area for my child to attend!

Hearing a desire for Parental involvement, yet not sending anything home of real facts about the math programs, or any way for parents to learn how to help with any homework at home, one begins to think the school administrators & teachers don't really want the help! Also, our math in elementary through 6th is changing too often to avail any student of solid foundations in math! In getting mail from our Superintendent with a sloppy and illegible signature doesn't give me any faith in her knowledge of the importance of writing skills either! I must say, in trying to communicate with the PTSA group, I found they don't want to bother unless you shell out the money to be a member. Meanwhile, the PTSA takes credit for events while many non-PTSA parents send in food & craft items, help out in volunteer ways and keep them looking good!

This school houses SUSPENDED high school students in the same building as the elementary children. GED students also take their classes here. NOT very smart...students who have been suspended for drinking, smoking pot, skipping school, etc., are in the same building as our smallest children! Terrible idea!

Quality of academic programs at the elementary level, williamson places an emphasis on students needing extra help. Students who are academically advanced end up bored and unchallenged. These students participate in pull out enrichment activities for a small portion of each week and spend the rest of the week doing nothing. Many families with quality students are choosing to move out of the district, home school, or send their children to private schoools. Availability of music, art, sports, etc. In fourth grade, there are band and chorus. Not much else. Level of parent involvement unfortunately, parents are not very involved. Parents are not invited to in class parties or special events, do not frequently get invited to lunch with their children, are often not allowed on field trips, their opinions are ignored. Red flag: terrible administration - favors troubled students over great ones!
