I hate this school, the teachers give way too much homework and don't help the students what so ever, they also attack the students regularly. they have a lot of favoritism and only help the kids they like or are succeeding. Don't try to talk to the principal about it because he wont do anything! he will just say he will but wont. my fiends daughter in 6th grade got groped by a boy on the last day of school and told the teacher, and they never even called her mother, they just let her go home and tell her parents. they don't have any respect either. they are horrible and I will never ever let my kids go to that school EVER AGAIN. this school is horrible and I believe that it should be closed from such bad terms. they need to also fix the dress code, I know they are going to uniforms but they will probably dress code anyway. they only dress code girls, guys hardly ever get dress coded. girls shouldn't have to change for guys, its degrading to us girls. they should teach the boys to have respect. I'm pretty sure a shoulder isn't hot or a disturbance. so if you are planning to go to this school, don't, because all you're doing is causing stress on you and your child.

This school has been beyond disappointing. First of all, my 6th grader brought home a book from the school's library that detailed both homosexual and heterosexual exploration, glorified illegal drug use, encouraged underage drinking and inappropriate sexual situations between minor girls and adult males. When I addressed it with the school librarian, I was treated like an enemy whose sole objective was to censor the schools library. I was told, "Just because you don't like the book doesn't mean other parents should not enjoy the book with their children." My second major complaint comes today. My daughter's math homework has its instructions in Spanish. We are not a Spanish speaking family, nor are any of my daughter's friends. I was asked by the neighborhood kids to translate their homework for them because they didn't know what to do. The Spanish instructions are not a mistake. It comes as part of a packet, one that you can purchase online to see the content. It is called CSI Pre-Algebra: Fractions. The Scene is #5 Arena Volcano - - San Jose, Costa Rica. Huge let down. This school is abhorrent and you are treated badly when you try to address these issues.

I was really glad to learn of the DODEA schools on this base as the in town schools were pretty bad. I had high hopes, but sadly I was glad to remove my child from this school. As far as dicipline, they seem to only dicipline those whom they know have any respect, the ones who are out of control are allowed to be out of control with no real consequence. We left with our child failing and in one grading period at a new school got all passing grades. Now in his first year of high school he is doing great!! Relocating was the best thing for him.

8th grade Bear teachers at BMS are awesome! The science teacher is kind of tough, but REALLY gets the students to use their critical thinking! I think it's awesome! In the conversations I've had with the Algebra teacher I think she's a tad bit of a mess, but she seems to get the kids to learn what they need to learn. I have no complaints!! I don't see the problem with turnover that I read earlier. I think the kids are wicked disrespectful to some of the teachers, but the teachers seem to handle it okay. And I mean these teachers have to deal with bored military wives (like myself) who have nothing better to do but complain... I think they do the best they can with what they've got to deal with!!! I think Brewster is wonderful!

I have been here for 4 yrs and both of my kids have attended BMS. I agree that there are good and bad teacher with a very high turn over rate. I have constantly had to deal with teachers leaving in the middle of the school year w/o teaching the kids anything. You must keep on top of the teachers. Certain teachers put wrong grades in the system all the time. Alot of the kids are disrespectful and rude and discipline in nonexistent. However, the schools out in town are suppose to be the same or worse. There are limited sports and if you havent played a specific sport before do not plan on getting picked at tryouts even though this is middle school and gee maybe one would like to learn. They always pick the experienced kids and they leave the others behind. Wish we could have gotten relocated earlier. My children asked to be home schooled for the last 2 years and they are straight A students.

Brewster middle school has been a wonderful school for my son to attend. The special ed dept. is wonderful, the teams are wonderful and the teachers work with you. The office staff has always been friendly and helpful which is more than what I can say for Bitz. My son makes all A's and a few B's every now and then. The only con I would say is no sports.. Great band program though.

For the most part this is a good school with some really good teachers. But you will want to stay on top of things as there are a few teachers that aren't the best as well as a staff member or two. It's a shame because other than a few bad apples this is a great school with wonderful teachers. The band teacher is fantastic. The school is new and very well kept.

You choose to live on base and have your child attend Brewster. I haven't heard good things about the schools out in Jacksonvill, NC. We moved from Hawaii where the schools were terrible. My daughter gets straight A's. She is disappointed about no Extracurricular School Activities, but plays softball through the youth sports center on base. I have never had any problem with the teachers or staff. Test scores are better than the public schools around.

Brewster has NO consistent discipline policies that our administration follows through with! Extracurricular Activities are ZERO. No sports programs are available. Students are disrespectful and have no concern if called to the office (meet with principal) due to unacceptable behavior. No way would I ever recommend this school and it's my number one reason for requesting a relocation!!!!!! Terrible! Nor sure where all these star ratings are coming from because I know I am not the minority in my opinion and experience! Think twice for enrolling your child here!

I am a 6th grade student at brewster middle and I adore this school I have learned so much! Tthis is my first and last school year here but I wish that it wasn't. In brewster the grades are broken up into teams and each team has that very special teacher. My home base teacher is Mrs. Metcalf and she is a history finatic it felt that as if I were really in Egypt. I recomend this school to everyone and wish there were more like it acfross the World!!!
