Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My two children thrived and learned at Pasquotank elementary, they have first class teachers and a very strong AIG program. Too bad is always the same group of parents in all the activities. Also the school is surrounded by a bad neighborhood and there are some mean kids there, but do not let that deter you from putting your kids here, the building is old but the minds of the teachers are fresh and willing to work. I would give 10 stars if I could.

The entire staff at Pasquotank Elementary are dedicated to teaching all students to meet the needs of the 21st Century and beyond. The teachers teach children not the test. Way-To- Go PES!

I love Pasqotank Elementary because it is a safe and caring environment for my two children. They have been taught for the past 4 years with compassion and understanding. The teachers and volunteers are not just people who teach my children but an extended family as well.

The school is a great school. The principal cares about each and every child and staff member, which then makes the staff care about everyone. My daughter is achieving very high goals and she is loving it.

I love PES because of the relentless effort of our principal and staff to always strive to be their very best! I know that my kids are safe and that they will be challenged to reach goals beyond their expectations. The enrichment classes such as AIG and HOST are top notch and really give the kids the most outstanding opportunity to succeed.

This is one of the best schools in Elizabeth City. They seem to care about our children and go out of the way to make sure our children are safe and well taught. Its also one of the cleanest schools in the area and my kids love to learn here. I wouldn't send them anywhere else.

In my experience, this is a wonderful elementary school. I agree that the physical building and test scores may not reflect this, but I do not base my children's individual education on such conditions. My children have had wonderful, caring, responsive teachers that have worked with them at their ability level. PES has a principal willing to listen to you, willing to assist you in providing your child with the best education possible, and who displays so much optimism for improvement and enthusiasm for education. These criteria are what is important to me, this is why I am proud to be the parent of three children who are learning and growing at PES.

The school is a great little school. The per capita income in this area is relatively low and most of the negative comments from other parents might seem justified. I am a military officer and know that things could be better here but due to the love and care of the teachers and the outstanding Prinicpal things are always improving. The more involved the parent the more the child will get out of any school. It is easy to attack the school but the fact is the best schools are where the highest tax base is located. Those places have higher incomes and generally more active and involved parents and better resources. Places of lesser incomes often do not. With the involvement of the teachers and parents this school is reaching new heights. Educating your child starts at home and is ultimately the parents responsibility! Don't blame the teachers...

I am not sure what other school the parents are comparing this school to. Coming from a different state the test scores are way below average, which should be the FIRST thing you look at in a school. They focus on discipline at this school instead of education. I agree it has improved but unfortunately from worse to bad. They are very behind academically when it comes to other schools. This school needs a physcial as well as a academic upgrade. I unfortunately fell in love with the area and the community, and of course our new home and just assumed the schools would be great. We are putting our house on the market and relocating just because of the schools in this area. We have smart and talented students who will not become an Elizabeth City School graduate. I want to warn other parents who want to move here!

There are good things happening at Pasquotank Elementary School. We have some very talented and caring teachers. Parents are becoming much more involved. I believe the quality of a school should not be judged solely on test scores.

Both of my daughters' attend this school and I have nothing but praise for PES. My daughters' have been treated fairly and embraced for their individual talents. I believe that the administration and teachers work hard to communicate with the family to ensure that the students get the most out of their education.

We are a military family and recently moved here from Oregon. The academic levels of this school are unbelievably bad. My daughter is being taught the same things in second grade she was taught in Kindergarten. Not only that she is being harrased by kids in her class. They are telling her she can't sit with them because she isn't the same nationality as them. We are going to try to get a transfer but I don't know that it will do any good. If you can help it enroll your child in a different school.

W transfered in from California, and have quickly realized how behind this shchool is nationally. San Diego County taught on a much higher academic level, and my daughter is now being taught the same things in first grade she was taught in Kindergarten. The district office wont let me transfer her to a closer school with better academic scores. We move about every 3 years, and I am very concerned that she will be behind when we leave here. This school makes it seem that your options are poor education, or homeschooling. However, they will try to talk you out of that.

I have two students currently attending this school. I feel the teachers 'over use' the R,R &R and often ridicule the children.

I have 2 children that have attended this school for 1 month. The school they left in California was teaching at a much higher academic level. My other complaint is that my children spend over an hour on a school bus to get there. This is ridiculous considering there is a school with a much better academic record closer to my home. I will write a letter to the district office this summer requesting a transfer.
