MEC is a terrific school. It gives the students the opportunity to get a head start on college. The teachers and faculty care about the students and challenge them to do their best. It is an asset to the school system and our county.
Our school is Macon Early College and we love, love , love it! Right now our PTSO is putting together a trip to Washington DC. Won't it be great for the students who decide to go, to see our nation's capitol? Also there is a dance on Saturday night. My kids enjoy their classes, teachers and all of the clubs at our school. They have made some very nice friends too. It is a top notch school.
Macon Early College is my home; it is the best place that I have ever been. I will forever hold an illimitable love for this school, the students, and the faculty. Every second that I spend here is relished beyond measure- I could spend all of my time here. This school is the very model of how education should work: everyone is friendly (bullying does NOT occur), the faculty really cares, the curriculum is solid, and the opportunities are fantastic. I have been attending this school since my Freshman year, and it has become such an important part of my life and my personal advancement- I would not leave this school for the best academy in the world. The opportunities that come with this school are far more than just getting a college degree, there are so many good things that come with this school(we are always given precedent for volunteering, we can intern earlier, and and Early College diploma just looks better on an application). This review may seem fake, but I adore this school and I could not imagine my life without it, I owe so much to MEC. This is where I belong- and I believe everyone else can say the same. There is SO much more that I could write about, but I cannot .
As a student, I'm tired of people putting down my school and the changes that has taken place. A lot of students and parents seem to instantly repel Mr. Gibbs without even giving him a chance because he actually believes in discipline. Mr. Gibbs might be the best thing that has happened to this school because the students are so disrepectful and he takes care of it. This year, I've noticed a lot of disrepect towards teachers lately and it's getting old. I'm there to get my AA degree, and I want to embrace this oppertunity, and if other students want to fool around, go elsewhere to do so. And to the parent that thinks this school is ridculous, why did your kid go there for if it's a waste of time? And as for preteens, that was so middle school.
This is an amazing school with a lot of potential. The students have the ability to further their education by taking college classes at SCC. I am a senior (Class of 2010) at MEC and I will be graduating with my AA. I know firsthand that this school is great.
School has great potential if and when they get the right staff. Currently has undergone a lot of staff turn over. New principals and new teachers. Communication needs to improve between guidance counselor and parents. Can be disorganized and lack of urgency regarding scheduling and feedback.
This school is a wonderful opportunity for my daughter to obtain a High School diploma as well as earn a AA degree 2 years of Community College for free. The teachers are very involved in making each student a success. Each child is issued a lap top as well free of charge to use and learn from. So far this is my daughter's first year and we are excited about the next three as well.
