Morehead is an Arts Magnet which means that families outside of the school district can enter a lottery to be allowed to attend this school. The school offers children enrichment activities in art, drama, music and PE. The students are also able to take violin through the school. Morehead offers 'After School Arts' where students can stay beyond school hours to have small group classes in the above mentioned areas as well as African drums, chorus, hand bells and jump rope. The school population is extremely diverse with many different cultures represented. The PTA is very involved. The teachers at this school are excellent. There is a high level of teacher satisfaction as indicated by a low teacher turnover rate.
