Great administration, great teachers! In response to the previous review about teachers leaving, this has to do with budget cuts that the school has no control over. If this upsets you, contact the Pender County Board of Education and your politicians and let your voice be heard. The principal and his staff have zero tolerance for bullying. My daughter had a situation that she brought to the staff's attention and it was handled immediately and in a professional manner. The parent participation is awesome! The PTSO is very organized and active at TMS.

Very disappointed. The school is rated a 9 but we have had so many problems. Teachers coming & going, quitting, being fired. The school is very disorganized. There are too many bulling issues and they are not being dealt with in an appropriate manner.

I am a former student of topsail middles school, im in the nineth grade now and i have moved to a different county. but my heart still belongs to TMS, where teamwork means sucess. the theachers there care about each and every student. they are always there for us, and they truely care about our eduvation. Mr. Skippers the principal of last year, did an awsome job, even though i wound up in his office )more than once) he never labled me as a bad student, and he never quit caring. we saw him in the halls, and we heard him on the intercom very often, he was always encouragin gus to do our best. the school is a joy filled and it has so much support, GO TMS!!!

My daughter just started 9th grade high school. Her 3 years at TMS were great. The last 2 years were the best. The teachers stayed on target and were always very informative and the principal was awesome. He always had time for meeting and phone calls. Keep up the good work

The quality of the leadership and teachers at Topsail Middle School is in my opinion is top notch. They go beyond the call duty to help and guide our students. yes we would like to have more extracurricular activities but the budget does not allow that. the principle is always available for the parents and in the presence of the students. which I think is very necessary to run a middle school. the students look up to him. we have lot's of parent volunteer which is one of the strongest things about this school. together we have a awesome school.

Last year, because of the influx of new students, my son was transferred to a new language arts class. Now, again, this year, because of further enrollment, my son is again being transferred around to meet the staffing ratio. I think that the principal should take a closer look at who he is moving around. I think this needs to be planned a little better this year. How about taking the top percentile of kids that are doing really well in those classes and move them? My son is a below average student and I don't think that his grades can afford for him to switch teachers.

My son is now in the 7th grade at TMS. He has wonderful highly qualified teachers. They work very hard to give the students an excellent education even with many obstacles. The county does not give the schools enough money to get enough teachers. Therefore the class sizes are very large. Most are over 30 and some as high as 37. They have no money for supplies and many of their computers are obsolete. They are not a Title one school so they do not get extra federal money that helps fill in the financial gaps. Parent involvement is high.

My son is starting 8th grade and has been at this school for 6th and 7th. He has done well. He likes the teachers and is a good student. I only have one complaint-there are not enough special classes for their itinerates. They only have band-art-1 type of computer class-agriculture-and pe. Our school is supposed to be a school of excellence. So why do we not have enough money for drama class, chorus class, home ec, spanish or any foreign language and I could go on? Many other middle schools in the area have them. I am disppointed about that. Our kids work hard and get good test scores and have no choice in their itinerate classes.
