Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

We love Westchester. Our child was here from Kindergarden through 6th grade. She wanted to try a different school for middle school. A year and a half and she was ready to come right back to Westchester. She did not feel challenged at the other school nor did she feel that the teachers cared as much. The relationships between the kids and the teachers is the key. They are stellar teachers that genuinely care about the students.

Westchester provides a well-rounded education where students learn to think for themselves, while enjoying the opportunity to be involved in a strong academic program as well as outstanding extracurricular opportunities. As a parent of two alumni and two current students, I have experienced first-hand the value of a Westchester education from many perspectives. I know that our students are well prepared to succeed in college and in life.

Westchester is a diverse independent school that offers an excellent education. The faculty nurtures a zest for learning as they challenge students to think critically and to care about the world and the people around them. I am grateful that my children have an opportunity to learn multiple languages including Mandarin Chinese and to gain an appreciation for art as a part of their educational experience. I think a Westchester education prepares them to compete with anyone in the world. Westchester helps fulfill one of my responsibilities as a parent, and that is to provide my children with the best education available.

We love Westchester. My son started two months into the school year, and he truly loves the school. Westchester has provided him with a exceptional academic, fun-filled and social environment. The staff has been extremely helpful and supportive since our first visit to the school. We are looking forward to having two kids at Westchester next year.

The school focuses on learning and making it fun in the process - at WCDS it's cool to be smart! The smaller classes allow for more interaction between the teacher and the students as well as between students. They have great sports programs and extra curricular activities that enhance the fun learning experience. Our son moved over to WCDS in 6th grade so we ve been there for 3 years now. We wish we had moved him sooner!

the teachers are incredible with many, many years of experience and they love being at Westchester- we have very low turnover with faculty and teachers. The parent community is relaxed and supportive of the students- it is a competitive environment in the best sense of the word. We wouldn't have our daughters anywhere else in the Triad.

Because we have a wonderful family environment where students are nurtured by faculty and taught to be outstanding role models for our younger students. Our students interact frequently among grade levels and share one beautiful campus. Small numbers make it easy to know everyone.

We chose Westchester Country Day School from a list of other private schools in our area for our daughter, and we couldn't be more pleased. It has been a wonderful Kindergarten experience for our daughter, and we will certainly keep her at Westchester. The Faculty and Administration are all highly quailified, caring individuals. The curriculum and enrichment classes are top notch as well.

Westchester Country Day School is the best private institution around! They are helping to prepare my son for LIFE. Their academic standards help to mold our children into wonderful, upstanding, intellectual citizens. I have been so pleased with the growth that I see in my son, be it academically, socially, and spiritually. They are one big happy family and I am honored to be a part of it. From the teaching staff to the cafeteria, the 'spirit of excellence' is truly in the air. Mediocracy has no place for one who wants to excel and Westchester gives each and every child the opportunity to soar!

Westchester Country Day School is the best school in America because of the faculty, staff, and wide range of educational studies. The class size is small and they cover the basic required material as well as art, music, foreign language, social studies, and science. These types of classes are often not available for elementary or lower school age students.

Both of my children have been here since Kindergarten and I could not think of a better decision my husband and I made. The school feels like our second family. Our children get to experience so much from academics, to sports, to arts, and also the value of helping out our community. I intend my children to graduate from Westchester.

I go here and have been going here for about three years now. I love the school! I thought it would be hard to learn there with the tough classes, but no. The teachers give help when you ask and are always finding ways to help you learn. It also has many different types of classes to choose from. Languages, sports, great classes, and actually understanding the class- what more could you ask for?

Westchester Country Day School has provided my children a wonderful opportunity to grow and mature in a loving, safe environmment. No school is perfect however, WCDS comes pretty close. The teachers are awesome and really care about the kids. Our graduates have 100% acceptance of four year institutions-it's out in the country-but make the efforet to check it out.

Westchester is a great place for anyone. Unlike the other area private school, WCDS has a 100% college placement to four year universities...not community college. The enviroment allows every student to find their own niche and no one is left out. The faculty works harder than any other school I've been to and they do it for the benefit of the student, not of themselves. WCDS is a great place where anyone can strive to be a great student

Last year I was a new kid, and my parents wanted me to go to a school that had better academics than my previous school. Although overall the academics were okay, the private school I go to now is so much better. It is a Christian school, and I am learning a lot more and don't dread going to school. There were a lot of people who thought that westchester was the best thing ever. It was way overpriced and had few kids. I wasn't as welcomed as I expected, and I wasn't as rich as everyone else. Westchester is a good school if it appeals to your needs, but it didn't fit mine. They call themselves the only college prep school but i go to a 'college prep' school in the same city.

We took our teenage daughter out of Guilford County Schools because they are poorly run and frequently redistricted. She was received well by the students in her class and has continued to prosper with the small class sizes. The teachers here are not saddled with discipline issues and have more time to teach the students. As a result, the students receive a quality education in a safe environment. As parents we could not be happier.

We are starting our 3rd year at WCDS.We moved to NC 2 years ago.Finding a school that would optimize all the variables for our 3 teenagers was very difficult. After researching over 30 schools, we found a great match!WCDS excels in optimizing the learning potential of each student in a very conservative, family-oriented environment! An 8-10 student-to-teacher ratio, high education-level&quality of teachers, and great student-teacher relationships are the foundation of this process. The standards of performance beyond academics, including arts, athletics, clubs, and drama; building character and relationships; abiding to a stringent honor code are all areas the students participate in, not just out of demand, but because of the 'value' of the process. The students learn this value through the years. This foundation is what prepares them for the College Prep Process! Our daughter is now a senior! Our 2 sons play Varsity Golf and went to States! You too can find a great place in the WCDS family!

I'm currently a junior at Westchester Academy, and I have been attending since Kindergarten. Westchester has helped provide me with a family environment throughout my entire schooling career. The individual attention every child gets, to the challenge of the class work, to the overall sense of individuality one feels is unfound in any other school around. From my experiences over the years, I have come to acknowledge the amazing staff and faculty Westchester provides. Every student has ample facilities available to them to ensure they get whatever information they need, alongside the help of their teachers whenever necessary. Altogether, Westchester has provided a foundation for me to grow up on, as well as an environment that has helped shape me for the better. Regardless of how much I'm looking forward to graduating, I can honestly say that I will miss Westchester and all it has done for me.

Westchester is my alma mater, having just graduated in the spring of 2003... I could never have asked for a better schooling experience. Westchester is not a school where students dread arriving each morning. WA made me personally excited to have the privelege, honor, and opportunity to be in such a learning environment every day.
