This is an excellent elementary school! Our family recently moved to a new town and had to switch schools. We always new Hillsborough was great but now we have something to compare it to. We were so sorry we had to leave. The teachers truly care about the students and help them to excel. The schedule is great for the students. They retain what they learn and aren't burnt out because short breaks are built in throughout the year. Parents are very involved and the communication from teachers and administration is expected. I was happy to see that so many staff members knew my children by name. There were many fun activities that helped form a real community at the school. My kids were so comfortable there and never complained about school. All children should be so lucky to go to a school like this. If we could go back, we would.

I couldn't be any more pleased with my sons first school experience. All of the staff is friendly, helpful and genuinly there with the children's best interest at heart. My son loves to go to school and has learned so much. Any questions or concerns that I have had were addressed quickly and effectively. I couldn't ask for more. I can't wait for my daughter to have the opportunity to start school here in a couple of years.

We recently moved our two daughters from another Hillsborough elementary school to HES and couldn't be happier! What a difference in the level of parent participation and dedication of the teaching staff. Kudos to their gifted studen program officer for recognizing our daughter's abilities and bringing her into the program. The previous elementary school not only overlooked her capabilities despite our repeated inquiries, but also lost her MAP scores! We were worried about switching schools at first, but now appreciate the benefits that HES has to offer.

Hillsborough Elementary School is a wonderful school. The year round schedule creates a balanced learning approach. As a school of choice, HES students, teachers, and parents want to be there. The high level of parental support helps to make HES the best school possible.

HES is a great school! Their academic programs can compare and out weigh any programs in the area. Their extracuricular activities are awesome and the children are always eager to learn and participate. I have never seen the level of parent involvement anywhere as I do at this school. The parents are awesome, and I have always felt welcomed and appreciated. What an awesome group of teachers, assistants, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria personnel! Yes, the baton was passed on by Dr. Swainey and what an awesome person it has been passed to. Those of you with issue with the new administration....just remember HES is a school of choice.

HES is a great school! Dr. Jay has done a great job with her appointment as Principal. HES is a school of choice. Those who can't handle change, need to keep that fact in mind.

We found the quality of the academic programs (especially the gifted classes) to be excellent for six of the seven years our daughter attended (1997-2002/2003). Music and art were built into the curriculum, and parental involvement was excellent.

Excellent teachers, and children seem to excel because of it. New principal appointed in 2004.

I do not think this school prepared my child for middle school. While the teachers were very nice, I feel they let my child slip thru the cracks because they felt she was a good kid. Instead of challenging her. She is now in 7th grade and is failing. I was once told by a HES teacher that bottom line if she passed the end of year test (5th grade) she would be passed to middle school even though she felt she wasn't ready. I still have a 3rd grader in HES. I do not plan on letting what happened to our oldest happen to our youngest. The school needs more tutoring programs, foreign languages etc. The world is a tough place and these students need the building blocks educationally.
