We have had a great experience at Conn! Both my 3rd grader and Kindergartner love this school. They have had great teachers who challenge and inspire them. The specials teachers, support staff and media specialists are wonderful as well. They love the full arts programs and the active learning component makes learning fun. Conn also has a great community we are happy to be a part of.

We have been very happy with our experience at Conn. My son is in 4th grade and we are a magnet family - we chose Conn for its active learning and technology themes. Conn is now a 1 to 1 technology school - students have daily access to iPads. I have found the learning engaging for my son. The teachers and administrators care and are invested in the students. We have found a community here, and we will be sad to leave after my son graduates next year!

Conn has moved to a 1:1 technology school and creating opportunities for the students to use that technology with corporations enhancing coding skills and STEM curriculum. The project-based theme keeps my son interested in learning new concepts while researching his interests. Our teachers have been good through third grade, but communication could be improved. As a PTA parent, the parent support network is great for both base and magnet families.

I have to totally disagree with the previous post about the admin staff at Conn. The new principal has been a freshing scent of fresh air that this school has needed for a LONG time. There has been very positive changes at the school from new structures with communications, teacher and parent accountablilty, and most of all an INSTRUCTIONAL leader who cares about raising the bar for all at the school. It saddens me that someone will take the time to bash a person who is very positive, willing to listen, knows the kids, supports his teachers, and most of all accessible to parents. I remember very clearly with the previous principal never being able to access her or bring any new ideas to the table. We ALL know that this is happening now. We as parents need to focus on what is going right for a change and be thankful that we have a principal who cares about our kids and wants to do things right. I have also spoken to staff and they love all the changes, they feel supported now more than ever, and love coming to work each day and their unity shows. Again we have to trust in our leaders that the changes in place whether its programs or staff are in the best interest of the children.

This school offers a lot of great programs and classes for the children such as tap dancing, keyboarding and spanish classes. The class size is relatively small (20-25 students/teacher). However following the change in administration I have to admit that I am less than thrilled with the school. A number of well known and liked teachers were transferred or requested transfers out of the school. The staff has verbalized their unhappiness with the administration to parents. Teachers have been seen yelling at children to the point that parents stop, look and cringe. Some teachers and administrators even talk to the parents in a disrespectful and child-like manner. From Kindergarten to second grade I had no major complaints but now I am looking to transfer my son out of the school. I am sure MANY will disagree with my review however I am imply stating what I have heard and seen with my own ears and two eyes.

I don't know why Conn only gets a 5 out of 10. We've been at Conn for 6 yrs now and love it! We are looking to move soon, and I struggle greatly with truly wanting them to stay at Conn and just making the big drive, or having to put them in a new school. Conn has become our 2nd home and we are so comfortable there. All the teachers are wonderful!

Conn has been a fantastic school in meeting the needs of my two very different children. It feels like a much smaller school than it really is - the principal and staff know every child by name, and there is strong support from families and the surrounding community. The teachers are enthusiastic, effective and very responsive. Children learn respect and responsibility, and school pride is evident everywhere you go. I love the ways in which upper grade students mentor children in lower grades. Academics are challenging, and children can start working with the AG teacher as early as kindergarten. My children find the "active learning" modules to be very engaging, and it eliminates my concerns about teaching for test scores. The performing arts and PE programs are amazing; however, visual art is disappointing, particularly for a magnet school. (And parents here care very much about that.) All in all, though, Conn is a gem, and I very enthusiastically support it. The teachers, administrators and staff genuinely care about students' academic and social development, and we don't think we'd find a better environment for our children.

Why this school is rated 3 out of 10, I have NO idea. I absolutely LOVE this school. My kids LOVE this school! The teachers and staff are phenomenal. They truly take interest in the kids and are very interactive. I absolutely adore the principal, assistant principal, custodians, everyone. I have never been so delighted by an elementary school. A variety of learning styles are supported and each child may learn differently, but they find each child's learning style and build upon it. I could go on and on for days about this school. Lots of parental involvement. I have yet to find one negative thing about this school. Onsite beforecare and aftercare programs are very organized. Drama, dance, gymnastics, tap dancing, you name it. They have a variety of programs for the children. I have no concerns about safety, disciplinary issues, etc.

Our kindergartner adores this school. The principal is large and in charge, and the teachers seem to do a great job of managing their kids, their work, and their days. People see our kid for who he is and what he can do and needs. So far color us delighted.

Conn is an all incluseve active learning school. Teaching with hands on activities and use of technology. Children are supported in their learning style as each student reaches their goals. It is awesome and children love attending.

Great teachers and great administration ~~ everyone cares about the children. What is in the best interest of kids, is always a priority. The principal personally greets students by name on a regular basis in the morning and throughout the day. Wonderful magnet that offers: choice of special electives for the arts, hands-on experiences daily in the form of modules and a technology component to the standard curriculum. Love this school !

We have two children, K and 2nd, and we could not be happier with Conn. Teachers and principals that care, wonderful community feel among the parents, and a broad variety of offerings. I wish elementary school was this fun when I was there. Don't believe the under-performing ratings for No Child Left Behind--- Conn's rating in that system shows that it's a has nothing to do with school quality.

We are a magnet placement and am glad we made the decision to attend Conn. The travel to and from the school is well worth it. My daughter loves her teachers and classmates. The principal is out in carpool every day, and knows all the students. There are a lot of activities in class for the students, along with dance, PE, art, drama, music, spanish, computer lab and explorers (AG specials). My daughter thrives with all the activity.

We have 2 thriving children attending Conn. Our 4th grade student participates in the AG program and is challenged as well as intrinsically rewarded. The Conn Family (Teachers & Staff and Parents)is amazing. The Children have a true sense of pride in their school. Although Conn is a Public School many Christian Oriented Philosophies are witnessed and exhibited within the Conn Family. We love Conn!

I have two children at Conn. My 3rd grader is constantly challenged through the AG opportunities and the project based modules. My kindergartner has adjusted well to 'big' school with the loving teachers and active learning. Very little just sitting around and doing school work, it is all turned into actual life experience work that he can relate to and learn from to use in life skills even at the age of 5. The many excursions in modules and field trips that my kids experience versus my friends children is wonderful and the more hands on learning they get from these trips the more they apply to the school knowledge they get. I would recommend Conn to any parent, base or magnet. Staff is fabulous and has been added to recently to handle the increase in student population. Teachers are wonderful and truly care about each child/student. Check out Conn!

Our son is in kindergarten at Conn and we love it. He really responds well to the 'active learning' approach. The students there are respectful and well behaved (as opposed to several other schools that I visited). But most of all my son loves it! We were thrilled when he got in through the Magnet program and have been delighted with it ever since.

Conn Elementary is an awesome school! The active learning through projects, modules and focus areas keeps the kids interested and involved. The technology has them producing news programs and Power Point presentations. The field trips are often and really are tied into the areas of study. All subjects overlap to give the feel of congruity. The teachers are very positive and available, the principal is very responsive, and the parents are involved more than in any school I've ever seen. The gymnasium is full of parents for PTA meetings! Many parents volunteer throughout the week. The principal and teachers remember your name, which is something I hadn't experienced before either. All the children learn Spanish. There is much community involvement, with speakers coming in, and productions going out (such as performances at a retirement center). I recommend Conn Elementary very highly!

Our experience at Conn has been a tremendous disappointment. The teacher turnover is exceptionally high and several high-quality teachers have transfered to other local elementary schools. The leadership at Conn has contributed greatly to this problem. We would like to see stronger leadership and a more positive atmosphere for our child. The music, foreign language and art programs are generally weak. The media center and access to computers are the school's greatest strengths.

Our son is in kindergarten at Conn, and we have been very happy with the school. The teachers work together in a team approach for the grade level. My son loves the project-based learning modules. And the reading specialist for kindergarten is fantastic. She really gets the kids to love learning. Most of all, we have found the staff at Conn to be kind and respectful to all students and parents. I would recommend Conn to any family looking for a great public school.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
