Carter G. Woodson School of Challenge. Carter G. is a small charter school that has grown over the years and has been voted the most improved school in 2003, 2004 2006 and 2008. I have seen this school go from a small setting when they only had kindergarden and elementary. Over the years they have expanded from K-12 and have added a new facility which includes new computer lab technology and a gymnasium. They now have a marching band, jazz band and school orchestra. Academics is the schools most concern for each student and the teacher go the extra mile for students who need additional assistance. Most of all the leadership of the school is Mrs. Ruth Mack-Hopkins whose motto is 'I'll fight your parents to insure that you get a proper education.' And finally I still prefer the old school slogan which Carter G. Woodson uses, 'It Takes A Village To Raise A Child', this maybe old school but it works.
