The children of the Turtle Mountain Special Education Unit serves six schools in the local community. I don't know how many students in all are part of the Special Education Unit, but of the five schools, I know there are many. We are very fortunate to have caring and highly qualified staff serving as special education teachers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, paras, and many others. Everyone supports our students and they are a super bunch. We are so proud when a student progresses and graduates from services. I am proud to be a staff member of the Ojibwa Indian School, which is not listed, but is part of the Turtle Mountain Special Education Unit. Our students just began their second year in a brand new enclosed school. Before, the students at Ojibwa had to travel from building to building, some of which were trailers, in the middle of winter to attend different classes. If you know North Dakota winter weather, you know that is no picnic. I am very proud of our Unit and would invite anyone to visit one of our schools to see how great our students and staff are. Thank you.
