Hyre is one of the overall best middle schools in Akron Public Schools. As a substitute teacher, I can tell the difference in the student attitudes as soon as I walk into the building. The faculty and staff are professional, experienced and dedicated. They encourage students to do their best personally and academically - and it shows with this school being rated an "excellent" school. Student behavior is much better than in other middle schools in the district. This building is also well-equipped to assist students with disabilities (physical, emotional, and learning) in their educational experience. In fact, students with disabilities who might attend other nearby middle schools often attend Hyre instead. The school is also getting a new building which will be ready for use in the fall of 2011 - one more reason to choose this school for your child to attend.

Hyre Middle School has no pros that I, as a parent, have seen. Their doors are closed to parents. The parent/teacher communication does not exsist. Addressing your concerns is fruitless. If though you do voice your concerns to a teacher/staff expect your child to hear about your concerns in the form a lecture. I accept resposibility as a parent and my children are not perfect in anyway but parent envolvement and communication is essential for an education.

I go to Hyre im in the 8th grade. I think the school is great but it could be better. Over the years the fighting and cusing has gotton worse, i think they focus to much on the little things that go on in the school when they should pay more attention to the bigger problems. The way we learn is great, i love my teachers but there are some that just need to be replaced because it's hard to follow the way they teach and it makes it harder to learn but other then that i love my school.

I am a 7th grader at Hyre Middle School. I have been going to Ellet Schools since kindergarten. The school is great. It has many nice students so if your new, you can easily make friends. I have wonderful teachers. (Except for a few.) They are kind, GREAT AT TEACHING, and you learn alot. They usually care about the students grades and it shows. They love to have you come in on study halls just because they love seeing you interested in the class.. I got to math for 2 periods a day now because I have 9th period study hall. I can already see great progress in my math grades. Another student goes three periods a day. You learn alot and do lots of hands on stuff.

I'm an 8th grade student at Hyre Middle School and I love this school! I just thought you parent would like to hear the coments of a student who is actually at the school 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. I love the classes that are offered at Hyre! This school year i'm going to be taking 2 extra courses offered at Hyre. I will be taking the Spanish 1 (full year) course and the Pre Honnors Language Arts Class. Both of these courses are worth a high school credit a peice! They also had accelerated courses for math also they have the normal 8th grade course of Pre Algerbra and Algebra. In the 7th grade they also had extra courses. We took 1 semester of french, they had accelerated language arts classes, normal math classes and pre algebra and algebra courses! Over all i think Hyre is GREAT!
