I am a proud parent of a 3rd grader in this school district and I think they are a great school. My daughter loves her teachers and she is a straight A student. I think they do great academically and educationally. Great teachers!! I come from a city school and this school is way better than what I went to. Would suggest to another parent if I was able to give my opinion for a school!!!!

Academically sound school, especially in the college prep line of courses, students who take college prep generally do well in college. Art, Music, extercurriculars are adequate, but not the forte of the district. County school where parent involvement is not only common, but essential.

The teachers at this school actually care about each and every student and academically I would encourage anyone who is going to have a choice of schools in this area to choose Huntington. However, if it is sports or extra-curricular programs that interest your child, I would stay clear of Huntington, as their programs are very much behind the times, and favoritism is running wild here in the sports world. The school recently hired a new instrumental music teacher, which should help the dismal participation in the high school band, although this will probably take a few years to correct.

I was a student at Huntington for nine years. After moving out of state, I have realized that Hutington is a school that is seriously lacking in several areas. Huntington has very little cultural diversity, or any diversity for that matter. Most of the teachers are mediocre, although there are a few that are very good. Extracurricular activities consist of the major American sports, and a few clubs. The school does not even have a soccer team. Also, Huntington has very little to offer in the way of challenging courses. To my knowledge there are no honors classes offered, and only one AP class. If you are a white christian who likes to hunt and take easy classes, then this is the school for you. But, if you expect to be remotely prepared to even be accepted to a good college, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Huntington was the best school I ever went to. The Teachers actually take the time to get to know a student and when you go from a dayton school to Huntington it really shows you how much a little student teacher interaction can change your outlook of school. If only more teachers could be like the staff at Huntington School. I've now moved and chosen that if Im not in Huntington I dont want to be in a public school so Im now in a homeschool. I just want to give my thanks to the staff at Huntington I'm doing great here but I definently miss it there. -B.B.

As a student of the Huntington High School, I would like to say that I enjoy being incorporated into this school. As of the end of my sophomore year has come, starting from kindergarten, I have learned a lot from the teaching staff and am proficient in state tests. The environment is usually an all-around good place. Teaching staff is excellent and I enjoy being part of Huntington High School. As much as I also enjoy some of the sports, being associated with Huntington is a blessing. I enjoy every minute of being a Hunstmen. -A.R. Doyle

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Ohio used the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) to test students in grade 10 in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. State averages displayed on public school profiles include public schools only. State averages displayed on private school profiles include private schools only. The OGT is a high school graduation requirement for public schools and chartered private schools. The OGT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Ohio. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

About the tests

Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.

About the tests

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.
