Develops character: Strongly disagree

My child attended 2nd grade through 4th grade at OLA. Nothing but problems each year. Teachers do not communicate well with parents. And they treat children who are a little behind as if something is wrong with them. They teach and grade as if every child learns at the same level. If your child is behind he will never catch up at this school. Its rough on the child. And many rude staff.

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly disagree

Teachers have too many students, they have no time to offer to the student as an individual, if your child goes to another program for extra assistance, such as title one, during another class, they are still required to perform the work they missed, and they full behind because of this. The teacher will not offer help to the students who are in this situation. Children's questions go unanswered and teachers have no time or refuse to assist children with a little extra help needed. They assume that each child learns the same way and are in the same place as each of the other students. They don't even call or email parents back.

Amount of homework: Disagree

Homework is 3-4 hours a day or none at all. Kids are being sent home with the work they were unable to finish in class and told to do that for homework as well. If one student is not as fast as the other students, then they have twice as much homework.

Teachers make fun of and gossip about the children they teach. Children who need a little extra help or a lot of extra help go unnoticed. The teachers do not follow any special education plans. Some teachers speak their personal opinions about things they shouldn't to the students. Minorities are not treated the same as other children. Some teachers ridicule and belittle children, in front of their peers. Some Faculty plays favoritism.

This used to be a wonderful school. As you can see from the reviews it went from great to terrible just in the last year. I will give you an honest report. There is much favoritism. Teachers make fun of and gossip about the children they teach. Children who need a little extra help or a lot of extra help go unnoticed. Homework is 3-4 hours a day or none at all. Kids are being sent home with the work they were unable to finish in class and told to do that for homework as well. If one student is not as fast as the other students, then they have twice as much homework. The teachers do not follow any special education plans, if your child has 504/IEP plan, it goes ignored. In the older grades some of the teacher speak their personal opinions about things they shouldn't to the students. Children's questions go unanswered and teachers have no time or refuse to assist children with a little extra help needed. They assume that each child learns the same way and are in the same place as each of the other students. There are way too many kids in a grade like a public school. The new principal is apathetic, they lost a good one when they lost Ms. Decore. The worst part of all is that minorities are not treated the same as other children, maybe not by all the faculty but by a good number of them. Some parents have pulled their children out already and many others are pulling their children out for the new school year. My last point is that the children I know are not happy at this school.

Some are okay, but a good amount of teachers just don't care or are rude.

Amount of homework: no rating

It varies way too much. One day you can have pretty much nothing, and the next you can have so much it takes you all night to do it. They need to stabilize their homework schedules.

This school is literally drama galore. The kids are rude and pick on everyone, and social hierarchy is a crucial part in this school. Worst school ever!

I attended OLA from K through 8th grade (class of '00) and I felt that I was more than prepared in high school and beyond. The teachers (some of whom are still there) did an excellent job with preparing students for their high school careers. I went on to St. Joseph Academy where I was accepted into multiple honors programs and I credit that to my 8 years at OLA. I was disheartened to read the previous post discrediting my alma mater so I felt as though I should write in as a former student who graduated college with honors and a Masters of Science degree. I truly do credit that to the wonderful teachers at OLA who really set the foundation for my future. Brittany (class of '00)

I attended OLA from K through 8th and I was not prepared for high school. During my time there, teachers have found out to have been unqualified and instead of being asked to leave they were just moved to teach different subjects. Many current and past students and parents of students can confirm that some teachers are very rude to students and do not conduct themselves professionally. The local high schools had to have a big meeting about students graduating from OLA because they are dramatically unprepared. When OLA students move on to the local high schools, public and private, teachers ask what students are coming from OLA , because they have to catch up tot eh rest of the students, especially in math, although no subject is completely excluded from this. I, and many students and parents would not recommend Our Lady of Angels.
