My school is close to my home and the only reason why my child attends there, it is low on all testing and learning skills and greatly needs improvement.

My son is a student at Belle Haven Elementary. He started at K now going to the 2nd grade. He's learned so much. I was blown away by his progress. This is a great school to send your child too.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.

  • Our academic emphasis is on math and reading. Students are taught reading skill during social studies and science. Students are made aware of their academic data and have collaborated with teachers on a plan to increase their academic growth in all subject areas. Teachers use the four blocks method in reading and the 3 blocks in math. These two instructional strategies have proven successful with our children. We are a data driven school, all school wide, instructional decisions are made by teams and based on data.
