What a shame I have to give DCS one star! No amount of complaining to the principal or school board president has changed anything. Discipline is inconsistent. The high school teachers are pleasant and well-intentioned, but some are just not good teachers! Test scores are falling, e.g., OGTs. Enough of the teachers are always behind in grading and recording grades that it's inexcusable. Teachers are teaching courses that they are just not trained to do so. The principal is ineffective at keeping his teachers on course and he talks about making changes, but it's just talk. My husband and I have complained repeatedly about the lack of consistent discipline (one kid gets into trouble for one thing while another student does the same thing with no disciplinary action taken) and nothing ever changes. We were heavily involved in the school--we tried our best for the sake of the students. DCS students deserve a better school and principal. He has too much control over the school board and even the pastor of the church. Who's watching the principal to ensure he's doing the right thing? (I am only speaking of the high school. My girls were never at DCS for elementary).

I love this school! My teen has been attending since Kindergarten, as have my younger kids. The teachers teach and guide kids and love on them. They encourage them to do their best. The principals uphold Biblical principles and discipline. Kids will be kids growing up, no matter what kind of school they attend, and DCS uses Biblical lessons to help correct the kids when they need it. The coaches care about both their sports AND their athletes. And when you compare performance vs cost to similar schools in the area, DCS comes out WAY ahead. Not to mention that the local city schools spend more on ONE child than DCS costs for four (last I read, it was $16K for ONE student in the public schools, whereas you could do about four kids for the same price at DCS). This is an Excellent school, and I'm very, very happy that our kids attend Delaware Christian School.

Your child will receive a top notch education both academically and spiritually! Our son has experienced an incredible amount of support, care, and guidance in his now going on four years at DCS! The staff is willing to work with the parents to overcome any hurdles our challenges your child may go thru and the constant dedication and love illustrated by this school is so evident in my child's life and education! We are so blessed to be apart of the DCS family!

DCS gives our children a top notch education and at the same time teaches the love of God, love of their country, the importance of family, and how to respect one another. Their staff is so giving of themselves and truly cares about each and every student. We as parents are blessed!

These coaches are not just coaches, the teachers are not just teachers, the staff not just staff. This is not just a job to them. It's their life, their ministry. They go beyond the books to reach my children. I can't thank them enough for their personal invovlement in my children's lives.

Being able to incorporate God and His Word into every aspect of education is just the beginning of the great things that take place at Delaware. Not to mention all the faculty and staff's great love and dedication for each and every student; sincerely caring about each of them. ( etc.!) Being with the school for my entire life, I know firsthand how DC works hard to challenge students in all of life's areas; and how that really assists in life after the turning of the tassel.

Because I know that not only will my children be challenged by excellent academics, but that they will also be challenged to be excellent people. Moral standards are as important in the development of my child, and serve to create a much safer and wholesome environment in which to learn. The administrators and teachers are fantastic! I give them 5 Stars!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
