In my experience, the school isn't concerned with turning out great students, but instead is just focused on getting the students by. This has been my experience through K-8. I don't know about the high school. My student would not go there if it were solely based on my decision, but unfortunatly I am divorced and it isn't just my decision.

Ridgedale is a wonderful school to go to. I graduated from Ridgedale in 2003 and never had any problems at the school. I transferred from city school in the eighth grade and it was like a whole different world. There is always going to be one or two bad teachers at a school but thats no reason to give a whole school a bad name. I think the teachers are great and will send my kids there. Also the reason why the school has become poor is because people in the district keep voting down levies for the school.

This school has been a big disappointment to us. I suppose if your child does not need any special services, it would be fine. Our child is on a IEP and it has never been followed and we are made to feel responsible. Teachers tend to not teach the way they used to. If your child is a self learner and self motivated, it would be ok.

Ridgedale is a wonderful school district however recently Ridgedale has become one of the poorest quality schools in Marion County. They have hired very poor teachers in recent years who have not matured yet themselves. They are also holding on to a number of older teachers who should have been removed from the system long ago. I find it very disheartening that we have teachers who can't control their own reactions and emotional outbursts, and yet consider themselves capable of guiding and disciplining our young. This is hipocricy at its worst. I choose at this time to remove George Sheets and Bob Thomas from this reference. They have earned respect from their students and therefore the students behave for them. I'm sure there are others that should not take this personally that I am not aware of. I'm sure that if the community had renewed confidence in this school that the levies would be passed and we would not be in the shape that we're in. Instead of threatening the voters with cuts, why don't you prove your worthiness and show that you're for the kids and not against them. Leave your pettiness at the door and treat all the kids with the respect that you would like to receive. You might find that the problem has always lied within you therefore so does the solution.
