The high school prepares kids for what they can expect in the real world. Quality of education is average. Jim Leckrone will go out of his way to help where he can. He has enormous hurdles to overcome with the mentality of people from this area plus the wealthier ones who take advantage of the disadvantaged. Some teachers are really good, some leave a lot to be desired. School needs to emphasize teaching kids to be more ambitious about their futures and assisting them with obtaining grants/scholarships for college and educating parents about not raising their kids to live forever in Perry County which isn't like the rest of the world. I appreciate the caring of Jim Leckrone and his efforts to educate my daughter.

My daughter attended New Lexington High School and though we had relocated from another state and it was so different from the west, I think Jim Leckrone, the principal isn't a bad guy. He went out of his way to help us through a very difficult situation. He doesn't make the school like an unrealistic marshmallow world, but prepares the kids for gradual movement into the real world. I think he does good given the inadequate resources he has being in a school district in the appalachias.
