Wow, I read the only other parental comment and felt compelled to write. New London has lead our county in proficiency scores for several years now. I feel our academic success speaks for itself as far as teacher quality, administrative leadership, and the quality of our curriculum. Our current principal is 'home grown' with definite ties to New London which helps foster a past, present, and future outlook to his leadership style and assures us that the overall good of the community is top on his agenda. A small school such as New London can too often become just the stepping stone in many a academic career. As for parental involvement, I would have to say that with the recent development of the PTA, any parent who chooses to be involved can do so, although there is always room for improvement as far as administration--teacher--parental contact and communication. I have three children in NLES and feel quite confident in their academic success at this school.
