We are a military family, and we feel SO fortunate to have lucked into finding St. Brigid. It is a small, warm, inviting school--with teachers, administrators, volunteers, and parents who genuinely care about each and every child at the school. The focus is on whole-child education, from math to language arts to faith to manners to music to fun! There is no out-of-control focus on testing here; there is simply a focus on pure learning! If you are new to the area--and especially if you are military and move often--you will find at St. Brigid a place that welcomes you whole-heartedly and that makes your children feel part of a family (which we all know is so, so important for military kiddos). We are blessed to have our two children here! I cannot recommend St. Brigid strongly enough!

My husband and I both attended school here and now happily have our children at St. Brigid. Both of our children are thriving in caring classrooms with teachers who deliver rigorous curricular instruction. Our children attend Mass each week as a community with their classmates and have the privilege of their faith being an integral part of their daily activities. We feel our children are not only growing academically, but are preparing to become moral, caring, life-long learners. We could not be happier.

As a parent I just attended a meeting for the middle school parents where the principal of the nearest Catholic High School came to talk about how well the students from St. Brigid did when they moved on to high school. It was impressive. Their average ACT and SAT scores were much higher than state and national averages. He stated that all passedd the OGT tests scoring in the accelerated levels and most follow the honors track when they enter as freshmen. Impressive!!! I have been very pleased. I also don't understand why the ratings at the beginning of this site only have 3 stars for extra curricular activities. The school sponsors volleyball and basketball programs for girls and boys from 5th grade on. They offer a terrific honors art program after school. Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs are strong. My students have plenty to do!!!!!

As a parent of 3 graduates of St. Brigid I couldn't be more pleased with a school. When compared with other public schools in the area, St. Brigid offered to all their students field trips, art experiences, science courses etc. that were only offered to the Gifted in the other schools. When my children moved on to high school they were ready for all the honors courses-they seemed to be easily a year ahead of their neighborhood friends in their academic training.

As an educational researcher from the University of Dayton, I have spent endless hours observing, analyzing data, and conducting interviews to analyze the quality of education offered by area Catholic elementary schools. St. Brigid, with its excellent staff, resources, and technology, continuously is in the top tier. This school truly offers the type of education that children need and deserve.

St. Brigid School provided my children with all the tools to become the successful adults they are now. They both attended Catholic high school and graduated with honors from Wright State University and Bowling Green University.

St Brigid is a small school where the teachers know all the pupils by name. The school stresses the importance of family values. It is a modern facility, with a large gym, library, art and music rooms. The whole school is networked with with new desk and laptop computers. The teachers really believe in their kids and it shows in the grades! There are regular field trips and visiting authors, artists, musicians that stimulate the learning experience. While the school does not provide a lot of extracurricular activities, it does involve the students in groups that play sports, etc. Parents are very involved in the school and its activities.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
