Small classes and wonderful teachers.
The High School functions fairly well. Sports are average. The new AD is not friendly or accomodating to parents. If you are looking for a good band program and a poor athletic system you'll love Blanchard.
I have had 3 children at this school. The teachers are great, but I do not think that the administration, namely the principal cares about what is going on at his school. I have 1 graduate, 1 who dropped out and one currently enrolled
I think that the teaching staff is great. I've really learned a lot. Saddly I can't say the same sports wise. As a girl in the school system I can say from experience that the girls have a disadvantage. The only sports provided for girls are basketball, track, softball, and golf. As for the boys: football, wrestling, basketball, track, baseball, golf, and, weightlifting. If Blanchard payed as much attention to the girls as they do to the boys I think there would be more choices. Other then that Blanchard is really a very nice school.
I realy think this school has a great campus, and school spirt. The school should show the same support for all children not just community leaders or friends of the teachers. Also the lady's are not given the same respect in regauards to sports and other activities.
I personally think that the school has plenty of coaching staff. Coaches are also used as teachers. The school is well set up as far as the campus and the teachers are great, as well as the extracarricular activities and the variety of choices they give, especially for such a small town and small school. The choral program is not as well funded at times as it should be, but the choir seems to find ways to meet it's needs. The school spirit among the student population is at a most deffinite high even if the teams aren't that great. The girls sports are not as well supported compared to the male side of sports, but there are also fewer sports for them to participate in. The library and computer classes are average. The rest of the programs are excellent in my opinion even though I have not finished high school. I for one am glad in many ways to be a part of the student body.
Most Teachers are really good. We lack in the Coaching areas. They seem to use the 'cut down' method of motivation. Doesn't work with this generation. Administrative teams seem to have the us and them attitude. Girls really have a disadvantage here as far as amount of money spent on girls sports etc. I love the area and wish our school would get a better attitude with parents and coaches. Overall I like it here.
