Overall, this school is good for the area but not nearly as impressive as Broken Arrow schools have been in the past. There are so many students that I don't feel they get the attention they need. My child even talks about kids listening to their music in class. Some of the teachers are wonderful, but like anywhere else, some are not. There are a few who communicate with parents. We tried to meet with one of our child's teachers and ultimately had to contact the principal to get a response. One person in the attendance office (Julie) is polite and helpful.
This used to be the best school in the district but boy have times changed. Last school year under Mrs. West my child had an amazing year but not without a good amount of challenge. This year however the current principal Mrs.Coates is lacking. The administration is more concerned with having things run smoothly then helping a struggling child. I am very disappointed in the Broken Arrow system for allowing such people power. Shame on you!
We have 2 children at Centennial. Both have learning disabilities. The school and teachers have been very accommodating in helping them learn "their own way". They do not receive preferential treatment, just a modified curriculum and testing to help them learn. It takes a lot of work as parents in terms of homework and reinforcement of the curriculum at home. We have seen improvements and increased self-confidence in our children and we couldn't be happier. THANK YOU Centennial teachers and staff for being such an outstanding school!
amazing learning place is one of the best school i have ever had the privlage of attending, mrs.fitchner and the rest of the staff are so careing and realy try to make school fun.
I have enjoyed the staff at Centennial and I appreciate what they have done in preparing both of my sons for high school.
I believe this is the best school in the district! The principal and teachers are excellent and we were very happy with the curriculum and facilities.
I am an 8th grader this year and I honestly cant wait! I love the principal! She is very kind and meets everyone's needs. There are a couple of cons to CMS though. Some teachers do tend to get angry with people and there is only 4 minutes of passing period. Not to mention the very strict dress code! But most teachers are GREAT and I really enjoy attending!
awsome i love this school the teachers are great and we have a very clean school.
I am a parent and my son is on his second year at this school. I feel this school has a lot of confusion, lack of compassion, in-experience with children with learning disabilities and the inability to take responsibility when their staff is in the wrongdoing. I would not recommend this school to anyone ..
CMS is a very good school, but some of the teachers tend to get angry if you ask a question. The CMS staff is not very patient,at least the teachers aren't.But education wise ,this is a wonderful place to learn and grow.
I am concerned about the possible bulling in this school.I do not think that the teachers care about the students that are under achievers. It does not matter that they have detentions or 8th or other things. Some kids have issues and as a public school I would think that they have better training to identify these things.
I think centennial is a great school. My son is a 6th grader and is in band and one pre-ap class. He is a good student but he enjoys school and all his classes. The principal is wonderful and knows all the kids and really seems to enjoy her job. The band teacher also is wonderful and has helped my son so much. I have another child in 1st grade now and know she will get as good an education as my son. Ba schools are the best!
I posted a review here previously, and I have to say, I still agree with it. The teachers are still nice, the school is still nice, and the education is still going strong. This is my first year here, I'm a 6th grader, and CMS is a very good school. I especially like it because it is nothing like Union, where there are too many students and the teachers don't have time to pay attention to each and every student's specific needs. Here, everyone is treated like they count and nobody is left behind. Almost every day they remind us that we have the nicest school building and the best teachers in Broken Arrow, and that we are important and good. The principal is extremely aware of this and is usually the one who reminds us. If you are planning on going here, be excited! This is the best school ever!
I am currently a student here, and I have to say, this place is nice. The lockers are new and a beautiful glossy candy apple red color. The teachers are very nice. They are always willing to hear what you have to say. You get 5 minutes in between each class, and there are no bells at all.(shock!) It surprised me too.But it's very easy to get to your locker and go back to class. There is so much extra time that you could just sit outside and talk to your friends for 2 minutes if you wanted to.Today was my first day and they were very helpful. The lunches are delicious!(Especially the Pizza!Yum!)If you are a parent reading this, Your child will siply Love this school! If you're a student, You will love everything bout this place... the dances, the lunch, the teachers... you name it, You'll love it. I strongly reccommend this school to everyone !
I went to this school. Way too little passing time. I have had many detentions for just being a few seconds late to class. The teachers are easily frustrated and tend to yell at students easily. The faculty members tend to be bothered easily. They act as if we annoy them by asking questions. I had a teacher who never explained anything and still complained when we didnt get it.
I have previously posted a reccomandation of this school. That was a year ago, and now that I have been there I must say- I dislike it very much. Our teachers seem to be somewhere else most of the time. Much is placed for those with special needs, but Forum is being withdrawn. Forum is an advanced class, which they will withdraw next year. The teachers not only are not interested with us succeeding, they do not explain anything. We are left confused and baffled.
CMS is a school where the children come first. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. She is a great example of a leader and I will miss seeing her everyday as we move to another state. Thank you CMS for bringing out the best in my child and giving him the encouragement and confidence he needs to go out into the world! '
