Wonderful caring teachers, administrators, and counselors.
Edmond School district has been the best choice for my kids.
North is an awesome! I had 2 boys graduate from there. I do not agree with the 'drug problem' stated by someone else. Granted, I am sure there are drugs in the school, but kids in sports are drug tested and parents need to keep track of their own kids. I have 2 girls attending now.
Having had experiences with a number of different school systems and school, I have to say that Edmond North is awesome! The JAFROTC program is the best. Most of the students come from upper income backgrounds and I had a concern about that since I am a divorced mother l barely making mends meet. However my son has been very accepted and has made good friends and getting academic opportunities he would not have gotten in another system. He has been accepted at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis and the staff at Edmond North has been very supportive.
This school excels in almost every area of education. High scores, strong activities, caring teachers. Only one negative aspect (for some of us) is the strong conservative leanings of the majority of residents. Often very little tolerance for people who have more liberal beliefs. But overall, it is an outstanding school in an outstanding small city.
North High School, as far as education is fine. But under the surface there are certainly problems. The school has alot of drugs. The school focuses on its failing sports system and ignores its drama and performing arts programs. Its a fine school for education but keep an eye out for unfair treatment, lack of student free speech, and a large drug problem.
As being a current alum of North, I look back and cherish my time there. If you want your children to go the AP route, North is the place for you, if your children are not interested in that, North is still a great school. I graduated in May of 2006 with a class of 473 and it was only getting bigger. Great school overall, amazing faculty, great assistant principles since you hardly have any interaction with the actual principle. Athletics have been somewhat disappointing recently, football for the past six years minus the playoff year of the 2004-2005 football season. Baseball is great, soccer and golf are outstanding. Basketball is equally bad all over the district. But a great school system if your child is not looking to be a basketball or football star.
I had three children graduate from Edmond North and feel they are all living happy, productive lives because of the environment and education they received at North. I found nearly all of the instructors to be very proficient in their field and very helpful to my children. I had one daughter who transferred in midyear and 2 of her teachers took the time to refer back to her textbooks at her old school to bring her current with the textbooks they were using. All my children had a good opportunity to participate in sports and other school activities.
Edmond North is the best school there is, the faculty is great and well educated. I love the atmosphere, and the facilitys provided by the school. There many clubs to join and are alot of fun(I wasnt in one thoght, LOL). The coaches are really nice and encouraging. If i was in the U.S, i would move to Edmond and put my kid in that school. I moved back to Pakistan a year ago, but i will never forget that school or country. I love america.
Edmond North is a great place to go to school. It is a wonderful, fun, and safe environment to learn. It gives all students the ability to get involved and be active in their school.
