Music has been part of the elementary school for a very long time now. Basket ball/track is offered. Art is taught because it is mandantory under PASS skills. All rooms have computers, Students have AR as well as other computerized programs, and participate in the Sequoyah program. Also, as of this week this very small school has read over 7000 books and it is just the end of 1st semester. The teachers have plenty of time to teach.

The elementary school needs major assistance in the area of funding. There are always computer problems so there is no access to AR Testing. They have no extra activities for students with have above average grades. I believe the majority of the teachers want to make learning fun and for it to be true learning not just memorizing or copying notes, but I also think they are short on funds and cannot do all they would like. There are no music, art or other extracurricular activities that are not part of the 4H. There is not even a Parent Teacher Organization. The system has not changed and does not appear to want to improve.

I think that they spend very little time teaching the student. There is so much they have to cover that it done in such a hurry the kid have not learned anything. They have memorized a enough that they pass the test but could not answer the same questions 2 or 3 weeks later. If the students were not given the answers to study before the 9 weeks test most would not pass. This school has alot of very good teachers. But they do not have time to teach.
