The elementary is completely unorganized, teachers are uncaring, and i am sorely dissapointed in the whole school
I have kids at the elem. Middle and high school and all of my children absolutely love Little Axe schools. Awesome schools with high expectations of their students.
My son is attending the 5th grade at Little Axe he states he is bored and is learning stuff he already had last year, I feel there should be more programs and tests available for the children that are more gifted than others and for the students with i.e.p , my senior two years ago was told not to bother taking his sats because he was on an iep program and the councilor felt he wouldn't make good college material. I feel it i a very sad program for the high school.
I wld like to respond to the prev posts. My dd attended LA Elem since Pre-K and it is a wonderful school. LA does not allow any child to behave inappropriately. LA Elem does not sell candy, but does have one fundraiser each year. Most dances are put on by organizations such as PTA, Boy Scouts or Drama Club. They care very much about your childs education. My child is a straight A student and is now in 6th grade. LA Elem has a music prog for which my dd attended and she is in Vocal Music in the Middle School. It wld appear from the posts that the parents posted comments in the wrong areas and my be giving inaccurate info. As far as a club goes, sports has nothing to do w/it...you must have student interest above all. I dont see many children playing chess these days.
I am VERY unhappy with Little Axe Elementary. We transfered from Madison due to living circumstances. My older son was tested and found to be gifted. There is NO gifted program at this school, and the teachers seem unable to keep up with my son's abilities. Also, this school seems to be more about the sports than the academics. I went to a PTA meeting, and almost no one was there because of baseball practice. They also just lost their music program due to funding. Neither of my children have been challenged in any way since they started here. I am doing what I can by maintaining a presence at the school, and starting a Scholastic Chess Club. I doubt I'll get many members, since it's not a sport.
I am very unhappy with the Little Axe school district. My children attend Noble and seemed to get in trouble a lot. When they went to LA they did not seem to get in trouble as much. We found it was because LA allowed them to behave that way. I was very concerned also because LA was more worried about community, and selling candy, and school dances and less concerned with education. My children at LA where taking 12th grade classes in 9th grade. They said he was ahead, however he was not actually ahead they explained to me that the 9th grade math was full. They now go to Noble. They have a coucilor on staff and the children are happy.
My children go to Little Axe School. My son, now going in the 8th grade and my daughter, now going in the 2nd grade. I am completely happy with the Elementary progam. Both of my children have excelled in their classes.(my son, all 5 years, and now my daughter) However, the middle school does not seem as challenging for my son now, And, I suppose it is probably funding, but the classes available to the kids are not the most interesting to them. There has to be a better way to provide interesting classes and better, more fair coaches. There is favoritism in the athletics programs, and for the first time since 3rd grade, my son does not want to play any sports. The school above all is good, but some things need to be changed. These children are out future. P.S. I am a proud former LA school student.
My daughter has attended Little Axe since Pre-K. She is now going into the third grade. I am very pleased with the School and the teachers that she has had. One thing I find very helpful are the computer tests they give the children several times during the School year. It allows me to see her progress and her skill level. Also, my daughter is a bit ahead of her grade level in both reading and math. Her teachers have done very good in making sure she isnt getting board in school. We are very happy at Little Axe Elementary.
My grandchildren have attended Little Axe Elementary School since Pre-Kindergarten. We are quite pleased with the school, curriculam and teachers. It is very rare today to find a school system and teachers that are so dedicated to the students and their education. But here at Little Axe; the staff is very dedicated. As parents and grandparents of the students, we are kept very much informed. Students are encouraged to achieve to the best of their abilities; but not criticized for their failures. The students are encouraged to be good citizens as well as good students. Even friends who have grandchildren in private schools agree that Little Axe is far above the public and private schools in most of the central Oklahoma area. If we were to give grades to Little Axe and its' staff; we would have to give them an A+++. Keep up the good work Little Axe! Thanks!
In reference to all schools of today, Little Axe Elementary is one of the best. My children have been students at Little Axe for 5 years now, and their accomplishments are more than I did in middle school. I would like to send a big Thank You to all school staff of Little Axe Elementary for their dedication, devotion and overall response to our students. Little Axe cares about their students as well as families. They keep parents informed. As in the words of our children Little Axe Rules!
