I feel that KIPP has changed allot since they have decided to choose using the lottery pick. By doing this it took away the difference between KIPP and TPS. I still love this school and believe that with all the faculty and Principle changes in the last 4 years it will take time for the school to get back to any normality.

I wrote the first review of KIPP. My son is entering 8th grade. KIPP has undergone changes that occur when an adminstrator leaves. This year was a transition with many new staff on board. I understand why some parents may feel like the vision has been diluted. It is often hard during transition times. I believe in the new principal. I know that he can make the necessary changes in order to get the school focused on it's mission of preparing students. As an educator, I have worked with many teachers. These are still the most caring, nuturing, and qualified to teach that I have seen in any school system. I still believe in KIPP. I believe in the staff. I believe in the students. As a parent, I encourage all others to go speak to the principal, and share your views. I have, and he listened.

I heard lots of good news about KIPP prior my child's admission. I must say that I wasn't too impressed with my child's 5th grade year. I feel the real focus has faded. I think some things are a little overboard and aren't as beneficial as presented. They definitely have to make some immediate improvements in years to come.

KIPP started out to be a great school when my son was there his 5th grade year. However I feel they have lost their vision when it comes to the providing the middle school kids the tools they need in order to become sucessful in REAL life beyond middle school.

If you want the best for your child then send them to KIPP. This school is awesome. After financial matters forced me to remove my daughter from a private school, I searched and searched for a comparable school. Thank goodness I have found KIPP. Now I feel my daughter is still getting the same quality education. The discipline is a little different than we are use to however, if your child stays on course and follows the rules, this should not be a problem. They reward the children highly for their high marks and good behavior. I wish they had 4 1/2 star ratings. Nothing is perfect but KIPP comes pretty close.
