I loved going here, the teachers were polite and if you needed help they help you. It is a great school, I encourage parents to send their kids to Astoria Middle School.

Astoria school district is committed to giving kids the best education they can in spite of the current economic conditions that have forced layoffs and cutbacks. Everyone there is working hard to limit the impact on students to the greatest extent possible.

I have only one problem with this school. They did not inform me that my 8th grader was not turning in his work. His report card went from A,A,B,B,B,C,C to C,C,D,F,F,F,F. Needless to say I am very upset at my son, but also I am mad that the school only informed me by sending home his report card.

Some great teachers and staff housed here. However,in the 3 yrs my child has attended A.M.S.I have been unable to achieve consistency in receiving return calls from teachers nor have I received more than a half dozen calls initiated by the teachers, despite innumerable calls and letters requesting contact. I have gone all the way to the school board and frankly it appears AMS and it's teachers do as they please not as parents request. My child can go from an 'A' to an 'F' in one semester without one call from a teacher despite my requests/complaints. I have been made to feel that I am imposing upon them.In fact, I left a message for all my childs teachers a week ago and to date only one teacher has called. My child is on an individualized education program. I hate to see what attention/lack there of, other kids receive. It is a shameful administration/leadership issue.
