Wonderful school and programs. Extremely impressed with staff, and when my child comes home enthusiastic about the lessons learned I know she is being taught by teachers who love what they do.

Jewell Elementary School received the prestigious STAR award from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, for their outstanding Physical Education program! Jewell is the only elementary school in Oregon, and one of 16 nationally to receive this honor. Jewell provides innovative and exciting programs for our community in multiple areas. Congratulations to Collin Brooks, the Jewell PE Teacher!

Incredible School with high student achievement. Jewell is a 'Champion' school in the Celebrating Student Success Award Program. They are one of seven K-12 schools in Oregon to receive this award. Great staff and positive school climate.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
