BP is an unique school. The brand new facility is set up in 3 wings, dividing the school into 3 mini schools. Each wing has 6,7, and 8th graders in blended classrooms. The students stay in their assigned wing for all 3 years and have the same teachers all three years. This allows the teachers to get to know the students and offer a program that caters to the needs of the student whether the student has difficulties or advanced skills. I highly recommend this system as a parent of children at both ends of the spectrum.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
