I feel fortunate to have had a child in this school for 5 years. The principal and all staff are very involved and know almost every child by name. When there is a need- the principal can be found doing whatever it takes whether that is teaching math or landscaping. The teachers are very involved and happily participate in the fundraisers and events. They all work together to make sure students don't slip thru the cracks. The PTO is very involved and supports the teachers in their endeavors. It is truly a happy place where children are supported and nurtured.
I can hardly believe I could find a better school than Irving. Super leadership in the principal, motivated teachers who care about students, very active parents and a super PTO. Tonight the music teacher who has won a state teaching award for her work offered to send a CD of the music program to my daughter who will miss it because we are moving away. Teachers are accessible, email, blog and meet anytime I feel it is necessary. Irving excels in spite of the lack of state funding overall for education that is hurting Oregon. Irving is exceptional.
Abominable school! Kids are degraded and seem to be in trouble for every little thing; unfortunately, that is focused on more than their accomplishments. Accomplishments and hard work are not rewarded or recognized in any way. Homework is based on the slowest learner and they are behind academically. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
Irving is a great school! The teachers are very caring and involved. All across the board they excel in everything they do. The principle is fantastic! Way to go Irving! TAG program is growing and expanding!
No scope for growth for any intelligent child. No TAG program. Very unsatisfactory.
Irving Elementary is a great school. It offers a fun and safe environment to learn from its knowedgable, encouraging and friendly teachers, staff and active parent volunteers. Its PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) proactively fundraises (among other functions) to supplement the school's funding. Check out the stats and neighborhoods for yourself!
