This is one of the finest schools in Clackamas County (which includes Lake Oswego by the way). Environmentally friendly building (newly built) with earthquake proofing all those PPS schools lack), beautiful layout and design with impeccable playground. Learning enviro is equally awesome. Teachers rock, nice mix of kids and cultures. The principle is a bit of a sassyfras but otherwise this is an AWESOME school thanks to the kids, teachers and education quality. My child went to Duniway in PPS before moving here and this has been a much better school with more enrichment programs than Duniway.

Ardenwald is a nice school. The staff is friendly and they really care about the school and the students. It's a small school, so everybody knows everybody. The PTO is very involved and always looking for ways to raise money. They have an occasional art class after school but other than that, I would like to see more extracurricular activities. I'm not too thrilled about their new math program. The one they had before was much better. I'm a bit disappointed in the scores this school received in math and reading. The main thing that keeps us here is the atmosphere. It's a tight-knit school and my children are very happy here.

Ardenwald is a great school, with a dedicated team of teachers and staff and an active and effective parent/teacher organization. My kids LOVE this school and have developed a strong love of learning, too. Like any school in Oregon right now, Ardenwald struggles with ongoing funding issues - but to their credit, they always find a way to keep the cirriculum relevant, engaging and diverse. Members of the PTO have stepped up to form and staff afterschool art programs throughout the year, and volunteer a ton of time to help raise funds for the school. The teachers are among the most dedicated and friendly that I've ever seen. They work hard - because they care about the students. And the students I know, really care about their school, too. Very, very good karma. You should see this school for yourself - you'll see exactly what I mean in about five minutes.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
